There are multiple events around the country to choose from here canalrivertrust.org.uk/enj…ent
The one I've linked is a fantastic place to visit in its own right, as the staircase of locks/ pleasure canal rides/ museum are worth a few hours.
Just in time for the school holidays and all inclusive (just ensure you cancel it you can't attend).
Enjoy.

This looks fab. Does anyone know what they do with the fish once it's been caught? Do we get to take it or are they put back? Just so I can explain to the kids before we go. Thank you

All fish are kept in a water filled container until the end of your session so you can see how many you catch and a photo is taken of you with the biggest fish. They are then very gently returned to the water.

Sadly the “learn” to fish element is somewhat exaggerated. I’ve been to these twice now and the person teaching has done absolutely everything with little to no explanation and so it ends up being “experience what it might be like to fish”. I am a member of Canal and River Trust and I think they do so many great things but this one could just be so much better. It is purely dependent on volunteers helping to run these sessions and so it may be better in areas other than the two I have tried which were in Peterborough and Norfolk.

I tried to go fishing the other day. Sadly, due to the Environment Agency and the privatised water companies, I just had to make do with going through the motions. (edited)

My son went to one of these in NW today & absolutely loved it. It was educational, well taught & will be a new hobby

Fantastic deal I wish I had this growing up. Only took fishing up as an adult and wish I'd started sooner
