I'm well aware this will probably get voted into oblivion, but thought it was worth posting for the few like me who might be looking for one. Yes there are much, much cheaper options that do 95% of the same job, but none of those sync so neatly into Garmin Connect.

It's almost always in the £119-129 bracket everywhere - the Camels say it's only been this cheap on Amazon twice - once very briefly last summer and again for a while during November. Also worth noting that these hold their value very well, with used examples on ebay well into the high 80s & 90s, so at 100 new with Amazon returns policy in case of any issues this is a good deal.

Maybe there's a newer model on the cards but I haven't seen anything announced. For now if you're in the (excellent) Garmin ecosystem & want the best possible scales, then this is the one.

Features:

  • IN-DEPTH METRICS: Get accurate measurements for weight, weight trend, body fat percentage, BMI, skeletal muscle mass and more
  • HI-RES DISPLAY AND UPDATED DESIGN: Sleek design features a high-resolution colour display (TFT LCD)
  • CONNECT WIRELESSLY: Sync with the Garmin Connect app via Wi-Fi connectivity to see your data, view trend graphs and more
  • MULTIPLE DAILY WEIGH-INS: See patterns in your weight, and track how your body changes throughout the day - on the scale and in Garmin Connect
  • MULTIPLE USERS: Up to 16 user profiles allow multiple daily weigh-ins and unique goal tracking for each user
  • WEATHER FORECAST: Weather widget conveniently displays today's forecast to help you plan your day
  • BATTERY LIFE: Up to 9 months; uses 4 AAA batteries (included)

I’ve got these and would definitely advise anyone else not to buy them, problems from the outset, totally inaccurate, glitchy Wi-Fi, only reason to buy them is they synch directly with Garmin connect, but that can be got around very easily with an app and scales for less than £20.
My Renpho are far better and more accurate at 18% of the price.
Just to finish the rant…don’t even bother with Garmin ‘support’, generally I’m a great fan of chain reaction but they totally let me down on this one. (edited)

Interested to hear how you're syncing to Garmin with another scale? Is it just weight or other metrics too?

Here is a link to the garmin forum for some user reviews and problems. forums.garmin.com/spo…ale The weight readings mine have given me since first release are all over the place..

Ah yeah, that's a little concerning, but as ever with products on the internet the issues will always be much louder than the contented users who aren't bothering to post. Still, not disregarding your experience, just hoping you got a dodgy one and the majority are more consistent.

Anyway, ordered now - that's why I was happy to go with Amazon - if it does turn out to have issues it's an easy return. I've been super happy with my other Garmin products, but perhaps the scale is a bit of the runt of the litter... hoping not tho!

Awful, awful, awful scales. I bought mine in December 2020 and regret it. Inaccurate and little-to-no support from Garmin.

£100 on scales people must be crazy, it's says they measure bodyfat like that will be accurate , at the end of the day it don't matter what the scales say you can't cheat the mirror.....

Very inaccurate for body fat percentage. Most people find they give bf readings that are way to high compared to other methods of measurement. I sent mine back months ago.

...bad reviews here... What would be the good alternative?

That's what I've been grappling with... the problem is my wife & I both wear (& love) Garmin watches, but infuriatingly Garmin won't let any other manufacturer upload to connect. Obviously there's always the option to add in manually, but really don't want to do that.

If you're not bothered by Garmin integration then the Withings seems very well regarded, probably can't go far wrong looking at that. (edited)

Hopefully these are better than the s1 version that I had. They were fine until just after the warranty ran out and then they just completely died. I bought a cheaper Withings set that did the same thing and they have been much better.

Well, mine came yesterday. All I can say so far is that the setup was extremely smooth and easy compared to some of the horror stories I read... connected to app first time, connected to wifi fine, updated to latest firmware no problem, and away we go. Also had no trouble adding a second user which seems to be a big issue for some, again worked first time, took 2 mins now working fine.

As for the more in-depth metrics - I can't really speak to those. I don't have any previous measurements to judge them against, so all I can say is that they seem fairly reasonable to me. Consistency is probably more important that absolute accuracy for me (seeing changing trends), so I won't be able to judge how it does for a few weeks at least. If the measurements are bouncing around everywhere then it may well be back to Amazon and look for other solutions, but for now at least I'll stick with it & hope the new firmware really is the promised fix.
