That's a basic economy/hand bag only fare. Mauritius isnt the first place that comes to mind for a backpacking holiday!
Perhaps this might be a better option for £536? Same dates as above, but with check-in luggage included.

Great price, but be weary of Lufthansa and Eurowings. Awful company to deal with.

We booked flights to Barbados for Christmas. They cancelled and rescheduled flights several times, automatically booked us on connecting flights which breached the airport's MCT, so in reality we would have actually still been in he air whilst our connecting flight was leaving the runway.

They then cancelled an entire leg of our flight potentially leaving us in Barbados with no means of getting to Frankfurt for our return flight to Manchester. (they didn't see an issue with this as they were still able to provide part of the route)

On the numerous changes before our final cancellation they failed to automatically transfer our booked seats to their alternate flights and put the onus on us to evidence that we had initially paid for the seats. They asked us to provide invoices for the seat booking payments. (like they work on post-it notes)

When we ultimately had to cancel our trip, we were initially told that we had to contact Eurowings directly for a refund of their failed leg of our trip (Barbados to Frankfurt). This was despite making our initial and entire booking with Lufthansa directly (we pushed back on this and got them to own their inability to fulfil our contract with Lufthansa)

It took nearly a month to get our money refunded, and just over 12hrs hours of calls to resolve their various inadequacies. Lufthansa's customer service have little grasp of English, any sense of urgency, empathy or perception of the problems at hand.

Lufthansa's response to our formal complaint (three months later) was to merely acknowledge the issues, and quote that they were "Disappointed that they hadn't met our expectations" - Zero goodwill.

Just an awful company with zero audit trail of their operational administration or any level of customer service. They could give the flights away and we'd refuse to travel with them again. (edited)

Not promoting Air Mauritius ! However consider this as a direct flight from heathrow with their generous 30kgs luggage allowance included and it is a bargain at £671.

Weather in Mauritius still remains hot at this time of the year considering its winter! (edited)

Cost of getting to Heathrow £500. The ability to be broke using your Mastercard - priceless

Is it better to go for an all inclusive deal? A quick browse shows that all hotels aren’t cheap!

Mate the hotels are really expensive ! However food is really cheap around the island. You could be staying in a villa for half of the price u would spend in a hotel! Try airbnb !

Lived there as a kid 55 years ago. Went to the beach every Sunday. Back then it was a stunning place to live. I was still glad to return to the UK twice after two 3 year tours. I missed the seasons back home 🤪

I'd love to emigrate to Mauritius, went in December after 8 years. I have pretty much all my family there and I don't see a difference in the standard of living vs. here in the UK, plus you get amazing weather, stunning beaches and scenery and incredible food!

Went there for my OH’s 60th birthday. There were packs of wild dogs roaming the beaches, taxi drivers repeatedly tried to scam us and got angry when we refused to go to their “friend’s“ shop on our way back to the hotel. South Africans treat it like the Costas, it was a long way to go for nothing special, won’t be going again.

Good prices. But impossible to find a return fare for that price, especially in July!

We went to Mauritius for a long overdue family visit in December, Heathrow to Frankfurt via Lufthansa then Eurowings from there to Mauritius. On the way back it was an Austrian Airlines flight to Vienna then Lufthansa back to Heathrow.

The Eurowings flight was budget, headphones and blankets aren't free and there's a small selection to watch on the infotainment, especially for kids. Not much legroom either. The Austrian Airlines flight on the way back was much better (flight being 2/3 empty also helped).

On the whole for us at least (family of 6) it was worth the cost saving vs. other airlines.
