How do you get free access?

I am not on a wind-up. Amex Gold is free for the first year. You get two lounge passes with each cardholder. If you have a partner you utilise the Amex card so that one of you has it for 6 months, refers the second (the first cancels) the second then refers the first after 6 month have lapsed. Be organised and you get 4 passes a year over 2 cards (double if you take a supplementary card route) and pay no fees, plus you get the Avios for each referral. Or, as I said in my first post, simply buy the right ticket. Buy a J and get the perks that ticket affords you. If you cannot afford a J ticket then buy it using the Avios you've collected - via the various methods. FWIW I prefer to pay for my Amex and whilst the fee might be large for some, for us it gives more than itself many times over in the value of the services it gives us. Horses for courses. Either way, paying £26 for any lounge is ridiculously poor value.

Have you ever been to a restaurant other than McDonalds? If the answer is yes, is it because you wanted to feel above the riffraff who go to McDonalds? Or is it because you wanted somewhere with nicer food, better atmosphere and was more comfortable?

You're obviously on a wind up - please tell me where you can get lounge access with food and drink for free. And please don't say AMEX - because it has an annual fee - unless you get the first year free. But after that first year you will have to pay the annual fee anyway.

I'm sure he had a wonderful time in a prison cell in a foreign country, that's after being dragged off the plane by armed police.

The email have is from but I'm pretty sure I got to it through a search/comparison site, but can't recall where. I took a video of the car upon collection, but they are not that bothered as the cars are generally got bits of damage and are going to be sold anyway. I think they are grateful they don't have to spend time and money transporting them

We hired in Eire a few years ago for 10 days .. Paid the total waiver price and the number of times we scraped by tractors on country roads etc bumped doors ,were glad we did . The roads in rural Ireland were little more than tracks in places. But driving city to city then yeah prob makes sense to have annual independent policy.

Yep, if the car is damaged during the hire, they will charge your credit card for the damage up to the maximum excess amount held on your card dependant on what is damaged and how bad the damage is. The charge is just to offset depreciation in value due to the damage because they rarely bother repairing bodywork damage. You then claim the cost back from your excess insurance company using copies of the damage report, invoice and credit card statement as proof of payment. Just to add that it is always a good idea to do your own thorough visual check of the hire car condition at pick-up anyway and ensure any damage not already shown is added to both the car supplier's and your copy of the rental agreement before driving off. If that is not possible for some reason, take photographs as proof that it was already there in case of any dispute over damage on return.

They do put a hold on your card in any case you ran off with it. LOL However, insurance is different. I use this on a regular basis and it's always just £1 and then perhaps £15 petrol from Southampton to London Heathrow.

Not against Airports charging a taxi fees but it feels unfair to be charged with 4 pounds, for friends/ family who come to just drop off passengers; I know they want to reduce congestion ( and increase revenue!!!) but may be this is not the way to do it. The last time flew, I did feel bad for the old couple who were walking around asking for 1 pound change ( they had 10 and 20 pounds notes) to get the luggage in - have spotted a few currency/coin changer at the arrivals hall, but never seen any around the place you pick up the trolleys at the departure/check in areas.

All that now changed Moh; now gotto pay for getting dropped or getting picked up as well , unless u get dropped off at at one of the long stay car parks and then get shuttled to the airport in the bus.

I wasn't aware of that. Normally taxi drops you off at Manchester free. Go inside and grab a trolley that someone didn't bother putting back to save a £1. Also if arriving at the airport tell the taxi to come to departures. Get the lift up to departures and on your way. The trick is to be at departures when the taxi arrives so can avoid charge. Unless they have stopped people doing that.

Other airports charge taxi fees.

used these and they worked an absolute treat.

I don't use the coach I always book a private mini bus transfer and as I said never had any hiccups!!

I used these in Bulgaria. Had an interesting experience to say the least.. It was an old coach that came to pick us up, chugging a long in to the journey, it made some pretty strange sounds followed by loads of smoke. Needless to say, it set on fire and as we are the only people left on the coach, he kicked us off and shrugged his shoulders all while pointing in a direction down a road miles long with no pavement (lol) (his attempt at putting out the fire with a tiny water bottle wasn't a great idea) Avoiding the cars we made it to a hotel who kindly called us a taxi (which turned out to be cheap!) I will say that once I arrived home though, Hoppa refunded me.

If it wasn't for a delay in the airport I would have for sure missed the flight also paid for a private taxi and mini bus turned up with 4 couples to drop off before us. Would rather pay double an get a reliable service.

Agreed! Got told pickup was at 2pm they arrived at 11am and told us if didn't get that one nobody else would come. Then an angry man rang me saying I'd missed the pickup, the taxi driver told me anything booked through hoppa always went wrong (Paris). Against my advice my mum used them 5 months after in Berlin and was asked for the fare even though prepaid! Obviously just subcontractors and the taxi drivers at the other end try to make their own rules on top!

I've used loads of times and never had any problems!! Just hope I haven't jinxed myself as I'm booked with them in may lo

Anyone purchasing this deal has to try this recommendation if they like cocktails: The best cocktails I have ever had in my life are at Boadas Cocteleria at La Rambla. The bar looks amazing and is preserved in 1930's decor but the cocktails are the best i've ever had and watching them make the cocktails would be comparable to watching Van Gogh paint Starry Night. I can't sing this bars praises enough!

Barcelona is a lovely city and i didn't find it any more expensive than our cities, Manchester for instance cost me £17 for a vodka and coke plus a bottle of cider, it all depends where you drink i guess but to me the prices there were acceptable and they gave generous portions of alcohol, food wasn't bad either ;) and maybe im just blind but i never saw a prostitute not that i was looking ofcourse

I agree don't stay on la rambla but we were near the magic fountains and that end of town was fine, no trouble at all. You can pay €6 to €8 for a pint on la rambla but where we were (only 20 mins walk away/5 minutes on the metro) it was around €3 to €4. If you want to drink on the cheap our hotel was right next to a supermarket and the wine prices were unbelievable - most wines including cava between €1 to €3 a bottle!

If you're going with kids a good place to go for a drink is the hidden fairy bar (el bosc de les fades) - it's near the bottom of la rambla on the left down a side street, google it and have a look, really cool place (y) Also a cheap day / half day out is Cosmo Caixa (science museum) - we were €4 to get in and kids under a certain age (10 I think) get in free - lots of interactive hands-on stuff to keep kids entertained :)

Look everybody on here knows its 1yr with warehouse deals except you so i told you to talk to chat and when you get the answer come back and say sorry, dont just take what you read for a given on amazon for a given.

OK, so information displayed on the Amazon website...about warranty provided by Amazon not correct, and you are right. Sure! End of discussion...

If you was familiar with them you would know they carry a 1 yrs warranty and not come back with im not correct blar blar etc, So before you carry on arguing with me speak to chat im out.

I am familiar with Amazon Warehouse, but you are just not correct telling people there is a 1 year warranty. You can return them within 30 days if not happy, but that's not a warranty. See bottom of this page: Do products come with a warranty? No. Used products generally do not come with a manufacturer's warranty but all of our items are backed by Amazon’s satisfaction guarantee.

Can't comment on the alcoholic drinks, at most I have a beer before, if its an evening flight. In terms of food, as a veggie you wont have that much choice. There will be customary spread of pastries/cakes/etc. There will be a veg main, but I think you'll be lucky to get two. My mum who's also a Veggie tends to eat the fruit and pastries from what she tells me, but not sure if its this lounge or another. Check out trip advisor or google "Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow" and select images, people tend to put some examples of the fare on offer.

Any idea of the full drinks list? And what kind of food is served for lunch/dinner? (Vege here, lol) Never bothered with the lounge, but at £26 it’s not bad to try (y)

I also get them through Amex and through my Bank account. LHR isnt bad for lounge access. Gatwick can be a pain apparently :/

We get two passes with our Amex Gold. First year there is no fee. Plus if you spend £2k in first 3 months you get 20k bonus points (22k if you get someone to refer you). That's enough in Avios for a return EU flight. Refer your other half and you'll get another 9k in points, so you have enough for 2 return shorthaul flights. 1) Sign up or get referred to Amex Gold 2) Pay for your holiday with it :) 3) Use the free lounge passes 4) Get your 20k (or 22k with referral) points 5) Refer other half and get 9k referral points 6) Transfer points to Avios and get 2 return shortfall flights 7) Cancel your card and go back to step (2) with your other halfs card :) 8 ) Dont pay for lounge access. Give me a like on HUKD 8)

I get access to this lounge with my amex lounge pass. I've never been refused entry on the grounds it's full. Worst I've had is "hey, it's pretty busy this morning, you may have to share a table".

Thank you for this :)

For anyone in London for £21 you can get a return ticket from Stansted to Belfast airport, throughout most of October. So if you are not in Belfast, check SkyScanner for cheap flights to Belfast Airport. I've checked and cheapest and closest to those dates are as follows: 11th October fly from Stansted to Belfast for £11pp, if you want the 12th it's £17pp, I would take the 12th, it would be cheaper to pay the £6 then find a hotel for 2 nights, unless of course you want to explore the city. Fly back from Belfast to Stansted on the 16th for £10 Also if you want to take the risk, and hope your flight isn't cancelled or delayed for too long, then you could get a flight back to London Stansted on the same day you return from Warsaw on 15th October, as the flight to Stansted is at 20:10.

Those stats would be really useful if anyone could tell where they relate to! :{

Well looking at these stats I know we're I love to live.

These lounges or ok if you wanna sit about an airport all day getting drunk but I would rather turn up and fly

I agree! I did it once for my honeymoon was one of the best experiences compared to sitting it Jdw waiting for an hour to be served. It’s a little more than what you would pay for a meal and a drink sure but I loved being in the lounge with hardly anyone else and found it very relaxing!

I always book a No. 1 Lounge when flying out on holiday. Just paid £94.50 for 3 adults and two children for end of October (might have got it cheaper with this deal, damn!). Advantages for me are: much less crowded and a lot more relaxing than the public areas. I'd rather be in here than fighting far a table at Wetherspoons. Free drinks, obvs, but we don't go mad - a couple of G&Ts and a coffee are more than enough. Buffet food in No.1 is basic but adequate. Fresh cooked snacks from the a la carte are decent, we usually have breakfast or light lunch. We don't need to eat on the plane, so the cost of that (where applicable) is saved off the cost of the lounge. And the fast track security has come in very handy when there have been big queues at half term. But overall, I book it because it makes a nice start to the holiday and it's my money. No one is going to tell me it's not worth it, because it's worth it to me. Good deal.

Please take a look at these pictures and reviews and save your money.

Completely agree with this tbh - much better to start a flight from outside the UK - even if it's ireland you can save £££'s on a business class flight :)

OP, I travel between the UK and Japan about 12 times a year, in business and in first class. I have explained that it's advantageous to commence the long haul segments from just outside the UK, and which airlines offer good well-priced service. My advice wasn't directed at you, it was intended to give pointers to others looking for better deals I doubt, very much, that there are many people with as much knowledge of how and where to book well-priced premium class travel.

Heat from me

You're talking POOP pal, no availability on Gulf and KLM £3000+ Post an actual deal and back up what u say!!

It's not that good a deal. There are so many better business-class options to get to BKK The first thing to be aware of is the United Kingdom Air Passenger Duty (APD) of £156 You can get rid of almost all of that by starting your long-haul segments from outside the UK I often use Paris, Frankfurt, or another "nearby" major city to avoid that ridiculous charge. You'll have no difficulty in finding biz-class seats on a better carrier than Oman Air, Gulf Air springs immediately to mind. KLM are often around this price, or less, too.
