This is silly cheap. P&O Britannia for 14 nights at less than £43 a night for an inside cabin. Even a balcony is only £57 a night. So its a full cruise experience with food for less than a travel lodge.

Its from Southampton round the UK with a lot of sea days so will not be ideal for everyone. Its early June and UK so weather may be anything. If it wasn't for the fact we are on a 14 day cruise on the 1st July I would grab this.
Update 11th May. You can now go via Blue Light Card to get the Balcony cabin for only £599

🔥 £719 solo inside or £959 solo balcony isn't bad as well!

As someone whose biggest boat experience has been a few crossings on the cross channel ferry, and who definitely does not have the greatest sea legs, what are these huge cruise ships like for stability in not flat calm weather conditions?

So Cunard queen victoria I only felt moving on rare occasions. Nothing.. The pool was going frantic I thought it had a wave machine so the sea was rough.
MSc opera🤢 almost everyone was ill. Only one of our family wasn't. I cruised on a larger MSc ship without issues. Cruised with TUI and it was shocking constant vibrations..I get really easily motion sick. I just think you need to choose your ship carefully. Pretty sure most modern ships are good tho. Saying that it wouldn't put me off cruising with MSc but TUI never again!

Princess are knocking out late deals as well.

    Anything under £50pppd is good.

Can't do a UK break at these prices.

Parking £5 day west quay multi story or council long stay deal(the cheapest options are full).

I’ve just come back from a cruise from Southampton. Check out Parkyourcar.com I paid £11 from thur-sun to park at the ibis over the road from the port. My insurance was £13 inc covid cruise cover x

P&O have some great prices. We booked for a 14 night cruise from Southampton on Arvia in June going to the med and back - worked out cheaper than a spanish hotel on b&b.
    Will be our first cruise.

P&O drinks package is not good at £40pppd very limited.

Why is insurance required for British Isles cruise, insurance cost as much as the cruise, parking and fuel is very expensive, cost not much short of £1000 per person
    plebbygiraffe's avatar
    plebbygiraffe
What possible claims on cruise insurance do you think would occur for a cruise to say, the Med, that would not occur on a cruise around the Britain Isles?

Great deal and excellent value. However I'm not sure its valid to say "less than a travelodge". I wouldn't be particularly happy to be paying £86 per night for two adults in a Travelodge! (though I guess to some extent that depends on the Travelodge location)

Don't forget breakfast, lunch, dinner and unlimited snacks are all included.
    (All multi course meals)

Then you can add some entertainment.

Try doing that based in a Travelodge( or any cheap hotel) based anywhere in the UK eating at cheap places.

A 14 night cruise with only 5 ports. Combine that with the choice of ports and you can understand why they've had to drop the price. I'd love to do a UK cruise but definitely not this one!

Loads of better options, Princess and NCL pack in more ports, more but not scarry more.

There are also some more upmarket lines doing good UK cruises.

The main market for round UK is not Brits it's tourists.
Last year more UK people were prepared to stay local and not fly so companies did OK with UK pax.

    This year loads of options.

Cheaper through travel agents save upto £70

Don't bother asking about drinks package it's not good just PAYG

Weather was good last year, sitting out in the light evenings.

Then what do you do for the next one?

Loads of places all over the world does not matter which order you do them.

Picking them off when cheap is a reasonable strategy.

Is an umbrella supplied with every cruise ?
    Burgmeister's avatar
    Burgmeister
No, but as you are going from Southampton and not having to go through an airport, you can take plenty of luggage with you - including your own umbrella.

    getmore4less's avatar

They often don't have dates even when they do they pull as soon as they sell enough.

Often a case of snooze you lose.

As prices go £599 for 14n is pretty much where they bottom out for P&O.

Funny they say it stops at South Queensferry... pretty sure it would actually be Rosyth
    getmore4less's avatar
    getmore4less
The big ships can't get under the bridges.

They normally tender into South Queensferry.

Some ships now tender into Newhaven(Leith)

P&O like more sea days cheaper to run the cruise.

Princess do better round Britain with more ports but not at this price more like £700pp

    14n 5 ports P&O
    12n 9 ports Princess

    What's a fully obstructed balcony?
    sossidge's avatar
    sossidge
it’s got a dinghy hanging directly outside? presumably more like 75% to 90% obstructed, for the real pedants, but not exactly an enjoyable sea view

OP. Is your 14 day cruise on 1st July from Southampton with MSC?
    dinglebert's avatar
    dinglebert Author
No 14 days from Southampton with P+O going south. MSC while having very pretty ships have dreadful customer service reviews.

14 day cruise around the British isles where are the stopping off points Blackpool, Margate, Whitley Bay, Southport?
    getmore4less's avatar

None of those have piers strong enough for a ship.

I'd agree. Not a great itinerary. For a similar price, Norwegian Dawn does a 12 night British Isles cruise but stops at a lot more destinations. For me,NCL also beats P&O as well for a better cruise experience.

The price of the NCL one isn’t even close. It’s £1261 per person

Been on Britannia some years back. It’s a nice ship. Having cruised a lot and I do enjoy sea days this is too many sea days. Probably why they have had to drop the price so much.
