Bruges, is booooooring. I won a trip there on the way back fron the dam, wish id lost the comp.

Easy.Action.Baby

Parking is charged at £7 per 24 hour period or part thereof. So you need 2 days parking for £14. You get about 8 hours in Bruges. Not bad value if you want to spend a day in Bruges.

rolandjustchillin

Been on afew of these, unless u want to get bladdered, there nothing to do. Ok theres afew shops, but my biggest complaint is u have to drive to it and u now get screwed to park.

I saw a thicko in Lidl at the bakery, pick up the tongs and then put the handles back on top of the pastry. Err, yeh, great... Looked like he had arrived here by truck though.

rachelandgromit

It may be worth contacting them to see if they have any doubles or paying to see if you can select your cabin - extra £46 I believe. It's definitely not the luxury of other ships but it is good value for money and not having upwards of £5 a day tips (or more depending on the ship) certainly will save you some £ to put towards excursions. Also drink prices aren't too bad £3.90 a pint and you can buy alcohol from the shop on board and drink it in your cabin, e.g. a litre of Gordon's pink gin £15.30.

Lexeus

Looks like an OK deal, and as I was in the market this did get my attention, but after a little digging it isn't quite the bargain it first looks. No Double bed, and not quite the luxury of modern cruise ships, I wonder just how seasick this smaller boat is going to make people on it's transatlantic voyage (y) Ship Details for those interested: https://www.iglucruise.com/marella-celebration Description of cabin from TUI website: DECKS 3/4 OUTSIDE CABIN All our Outside cabins have portholes and are 13-16m2. The majority of these cabins feature two beds in an L-shaped layout, which can’t be converted into a queen-size bed. You can also get cabins with two beds side by side or a queen-size bed. Our three- and four-berth cabins have twin beds and upper berths that fold away, plus extra wardrobe space. The en suite bathrooms have a shower and WC.

You've said you arrive back 5.30pm on Tuesday if you get the Monday ferry out you idiot. Check your posts.

BadMF

48 hours, 16.5 hours to get there, an hour to get off boat and into centre of Amsterdam, roughly 5hours in Amsterdam, another hour to get bus back to port and back on the boat, then 16.5 hours back home. 40 hours with 8 hours spare for delays.

Crispy_Ambulance

So you arrive in Amsterdam at 8am Tuesday, leave at 5.30pm on the Tuesday, arrive back in Newcastle 5.30pm on the Tuesday? Thick as a castle wall you sunshine.

BadMF

Again, nope. Arrive back 5.30 Tuesday.

Crispy_Ambulance

Why are you asking for drink prices on-board on another thread? You've never been on this trip before. I'll spell it out for you, you leave on Monday (so thats day one - still with me?), you arrive about 8ish on Tuesday (day 2), you leave at 1730 on Tuesday (yes, the same Tuesday so we're still on day 2), you arrive back in North Shields at 0830 on the Wednesday (day 3).

Majestic Fjordland 6 night cruise 22nd July from London. Seems a good price.
alanw451

With a family of 4 I think its hard to find an affordable deal so if inside cabin gets someone away who wouldn't have been able to afford to it could work out. Agree though balcony is the preference but would rather go on a trip with an inside cabin than be sat at home :-)

yozzman1234

We have done insides a few times , have a larger inside on Iona for next November. 14 night Spain and Portugal for £485 pp . Unreal price . But that’s why we are doing an inside !!!! We have a suite booked on Britannia for 14 nights Caribbean and that’s £6K . So depends what people want .

shotatdawn

No you just bounce about like tennis balls in a box

marty-401

On the upside, you don't feel the rocking as much with an inside cabin...

shotatdawn

VERY good price - however- this will be an inside cabin - they are like prison cells - no natural light and very cramped - only ever went inside cabin on one cruise gated it and eventually asked if there were any sea view or balcony staterooms and paid for the upgrade

This trip doesn't go anywhere near Cairo so no visits to the pyramids at Giza. When I went there was unrest in Cairo, so it may be different now I guess? There were trips out to different points of historical significance every day. If I remember correctly there was 2 different excursion packages, one was multiple trips every day whilst the other was only one trip a day to the main attraction. I'm sure we went for the light package and paid about £150 each. Which wasn't bad for a whole weeks worth of excursions really. There was lots in Luxor, but also Aswan and other places too. I enjoyed the trip. We were the youngest people on the boat by a long shot, aged about 25 at the time. But if you're into Egypt history it is good. The actual cruise itself was enjoyable to, I liked sitting on the deck watching the world go by. Heads up when you are docked, you will be sandwiched between other Nile cruisers, so won't get any views from your cabin. I'd go again if there weren't other parts of the world to see first :)

Maybe I’m different but I love sea days. You get to chill, recoup and enjoy the ship. I’m exhausted after excursions, walking exploring etc.

Burgmeister

What have you got against Le Havre? It's very close to the picturesque port of Honfleur - well worth a visit. It's also a good starting point to explore the Normandy beaches and surrounding area which, for history buffs or those just wishing to pay respects to those that have fallen, is an enjoyable, if poignant, day out.

Great deal, and I love the itinerary that costa do, not as posh as p&o and some other cruises but excellent value for money and some beautiful places to visit

dukedog

Thats the trouble with cruises, the price you see isnt the price you end up paying, tips, drink packages. Some cruiselines are now showing the all in price eg NCL and Marella

jaffajoe

Costa cruise ships do not have self service laundry. You can pay to have your laundry done but at high prices. i have done this cruise, and it is great fun. Brazilian laws state that any cruise sailing from Brazil must have a certain percentage of Brazilian crew, and they know how to party! I have also sailed on this ship, and she is glitzy. Costa is not renowned for their food - just so you know. If you can afford to upgrade to a balcony do so, and don't worry about being bored on the transatlantic section. Their is plenty going on, and if you are lucky like we were, the Atlantic was like a millpond and sunshine in the 80s

peakbear

Don't bother drinking on the ship as the bars tend to be pretty soulless. Just go for a drink at the end of your port days if you feel like it. Brazil has pretty cheap beer in the many beack shacks you should find.

I see price has gone up. Wont be long before Cunard put it up to £1100pp or so. Glad I got in there quick.

ian.cope2@btinte

Totally agree!

johnnyd57uk

I did read that P & O had said they were going to remove gratuties but I hadnt read that any others were going to. We normally pay gratuties as well as giving tips seperately. Can be a bit on the expensive side but when you read that some Cruise staff get paid peanuts for 13 hour days its shocking.

ian.cope2@btinte

As from May I believe that all cruise lines will not be adding gratuities automatically to passengers bills

johnnyd57uk

Absolutely agree. I just didnt bother with their alcohol. Their loss not mine. Cant understand why they charge so much. Put a 3L box of wine in your main luggage. I do. I would also point out this post is not for votes but to point people in the direction of an amazing stress free holiday. Cunard Cruises are usually quite expensive but this is a real bargain. If your worried about the gratuities just ask the to take them off your bill and tip only those you feel are deserving.

THANK YOU for posting...seems like a very good deal to me. :-)

matth5182

I take as I find and love a deal - we just had a bad experience and it's tainted the brand for me. But as you say, the newer ships are a bit more like it. In fact mein Schiff 1 (Marella explorer) is ex celebrity cruises. And the discoveries are ex RCL.

hullmackem

Rumour is they are getting some new builds soon. Tbh the explorers are well refurbed and a lot of p&o cruisers are migrating across. From my perspective rci, ncl etc are way too pricey. The newer ships in the Marella fleet are excellent. Though I'd love to do independance of the seas at some point.

matth5182

Is the above not my personal experience therfore cannot be referred to as 'utter tripe'. Since when has preferring luxury over mediocre been pathetic? Marella have cruises at a certain price point, and good luck to them but its not for me. The 2 'new' Marella ships have been TUI ships for the Germans for years then dumped on UK customers whilst the Germans get 3 brand new vessels with more being built. That says a lot to how they view their UK customers. I did however vote hot for the price.

Keep the deals coming reindeer. My only issue with nordic, benelux etc countries is the airfare is (UN)usually cheap, but they get it back from the very high cost of accommodation. If you look at countries where the airfare is pretty expensive, you find accommodation in those places is usually dirt cheap.

getmore4less

A lot of the bad reviews for the places identified by the likes of skyscanner and Momondo are to do with on-line bookings not getting honoured. Last time I needed a flight at short(3 day) notice I phone the agent with the deal and got flights and prices confirmed while on the phone to remove the uncertainty, £400 rather £1k direct with virgin for the same flights.

Transatlantic from Europe to the Americas, which is often pretty choppy because these ships are not made for the rough atlantic waters. I know from personal experience and recommend people stick to the lower floors if possible where sea sickness is less likely to affect you.

Cruise nation use session keys you can't link to search results. Cruise deal titles need cruise line, ship and date to be of any use. try this link for the 20n and this one for rome this for a lot of costa options

Cheaper because repositioning cruises usually involve more days at sea, far fewer in ports. Could be across the Atlantic, between Med and Gulf, etc. Suits some people, not us.
