Much better to get a tour of the islands etc with taxis waiting where the ship docks or get a group tour if you make friends onboard

Have to agree - do a bit of net research on where is good to go, walk 100m off the ship and grab a local cabbie. On the majority of the islands they will hang around all day for you for not much money.
Far better this than an overpriced TUI organised tour

Flights can be had for around £100 return pp though. To be honest, if you're going from Newcastle, you'd be best looking at going somewhere further afield that requires a change in Amsterdam and have a long 8 or so hour layover. You have the same amount of time in Amsterdam then.

They should really do a one night stay in Amsterdam as well as the 2 nights on the boat, an extra £30-40 and it'd be so much better and worth it.

Found in Tesco, Cradley Heath.
We spent £60 on the GPO Empire turntable from argos. It sounded like absolute sh** (very muffled, no bass, no stereo separation) and I can't imagine this will be much better for a third of the price.

Anyway we returned the GPO and bought the Audio Technica LP60 (the one with the speakers) for £140. A lot more money, but it had something approaching a basic hi-fi sound - clear, balanced sound.

Hi

Hopefully this post is allowed - new here!
Thanks for posting the deal and apologies that the port is mapped incorrectly - you won't zip up to Alaska but instead spend the day in Kingstown St. Vincent.
When availability is very limited sometimes our site will not allow a booking to be made online. We've had loads of calls and there is now only 1 cabin left on the ship - you'd need to speak to my colleagues on the freephone number to get it booked.
If you'd like us to do the flights for you, we can of course do so (and give you ATOL) but if you can go quickly, as boro4mesaid, it's a bit of a bargain!

I would agree that Miami airport has been a pain in the past but this time we went from plane landing on the runway to in our hotel room in downtown Miami in less than an hour. We used the automatic passport control gates at the airport and went straight through. We saw so many passengers from our BA flight not realising you can use the gates and going to line up at the immigration desks which take ages. We were really impressed especially after the normal 2/3 hour waits of the past.

Thats a vast improvement on our wait time of about 2 hours, so somethings definitely changed. I just remember utter chaos, walking past a massive queue consisting of people from our ba flight and other flights, to find someone who could tell us where to go. We got directed to an area where you firstly completed a security check by yourself, then we had to go through a manned passport control. Good thing was getting a cab immediately as we were one of the first out. We got to our Miami beach hotel about 6 or 7pm, while others from our flight finally walked in about 10pm, which may have had something to do with security staff dropping like flies due to it being a particularly busy Saturday!
Guaranteed inside cabin?? Makes it sound like its an upgrade.... from what lol

Talking of queues, Miami airport was a nightmare when I went through it earlier this year to meet a cruise, taking a few hours to get out of it!

Regarding the Trans Atlantic cruises... We have done 2 of these and treat them the same as we do a resort based beach holiday. Lots of time to relax with a good book etc. Just remember that when doing a west to east crossing you will lose an hour on some of the days with the different time zones you cross. On both our cruises (also with Royal) they made the time change at noon so it didn't affect you too much.

I booked only last week to go to Rotterdam on 15th December returning on …I booked only last week to go to Rotterdam on 15th December returning on 16th from Hull. There were no codes or deals on the P and O site or here. Is there any way I can amend the booking to claim the 25% reduction. It's cost me and a friend £94 each.

I Don't think it applys to the weekend Mini cruises they are always dearer, Sorry.
This is the email I've written to p and o

So my wife and I went on our first 'taster' cruise with P&O. We had a load of questions about going on a cruise (from whether we should have an inside or outside cabin to whether the weather would be important).

We thought that a taster cruise would be the best option before spending a lot of money on a 'proper' cruise.

Sadly, the taster cruise that we experienced has meant that we really wouldn't want to go on a proper cruise at all. Although not a terrible time, our expectations were really not met.

The food was adequate but certainly not exceptional (the buffet was more about quantity than quality). The nightly entertainment was ok - but nothing great but the daily entertainment was not well executed at all. I was however, pleasantly surprised that the drinks were not ridiculous prices (actually cheaper than some local hotels).

HOWEVER, there were a number of very unsatisfactory things:
Our dining service was meant to be seated at 8.30pm - the brochure makes it clear that the doors are closed at 8.45pm so you need to be there on time. We got there at 8.15pm and they didn't see us to our table (we were first in queue) until 8.50pm. This happened on two consecutive nights.

The black tie night - again, the brochure makes it clear that you won't be allowed to come in unless you are wearing appropriate clothing. No word of a lie - there was someone in the queue who was wearing a polo shirt and what can best be described as a cardigan jacket. One chap on our table was wearing a suit but didn't have a tie on. Really nice guy, but if you are going to have standards, stick to them...

We went on to the Ventura. To be honest, the cleanliness of our room was just not very good (see toilet photo and dust on suit carrier attached) and the room we were in was very tired (see plug socket and carpets photo).

A few people on board who had been on cruises did tell us that this was nothing like a normal cruise and was almost a booze cruise event - but it really has put us off - I certainly wouldn't want to gamble a few thousand pounds in hoping that our next experience is better.

Heat added a really good price. I sailed with them last Xmas and new year on a different ship £1600 each + a bar bill
Booked this about 9 months ago after completing a similar trip on the Ventura last December. Amazing value for money and great ship. Nice cabins and decor throughout. On board entertainment is ok and the Silver Service dining is excellent if you like dressing up. The buffet food is good too but a bit on the plain side as you might expect.
You get the best part of a day at most ports of call. A brisk walk to each town is better than paying for the the bus. The excursions are expensive but they are worth it if you can afford them.

Drinks are a tad expensive but P & O prices are about the cheapest of the Cruise lines. Expect to pay about £20 for the cheapest bottle of wine at dinner. They do let you bring one bottle of wine per person on board and you can top up at ports along the way. Some cruise lines carry out very intrusive searches for alcohol every time you return to the ship and will confiscate any alcohol they find. P&O have a much more relaxed policy. Alcohol is very cheap in Gibralter and a lot cheaper than the onboard offers.

Dont forget to add gratuities to your bill. These are approximately £6 per day per person. You can opt out of these once on board and tip workers individually with the envelopes provided. You can do both as we did as the workers get paid peanuts and depend on these tips.

For those worried about being "at sea" let me assure you that you wont even realize you are on a ship. Its just like being in a very large hotel. Just lets hope there is no more storms lol.

Lots of heat to Yozzman1234 for the post. Just book it. You wont be disappointed
