About this deal

Octagonal shank chisel, made from a single piece of fully forged carbon steel. This manufacturing process provides the head, handle and blade with additional strength and the blade last longer than other chisels due to the managed hardening and tempering process. Cast within the blade is a groove that provides faster removal of debris, mortar and cement from in-between bricks and block work.

Weirdest chisel I’ve ever seen 😝

They're for removing the mortar between bricks before repointing. The sloped edge is so when you bang it, it takes off the top layer and moves along the mortar automatically rather than staying in the same position.

I can see that guard getting in the way and becoming an annoying nuisance quite quickly though.
