For context, the free trial lets you play the base game, and the first expansion Heavensward. This covers up to level 60 and is free forever, but has a few restrictions.

You can lift the account restrictions by buying the Starter Edition, but this means you have to start paying a monthly subscription (after the initial 30 days included with the SE).

So if you want to get the free copy of Stormblood, you'd need to buy the Standard Edition, but this would also mean you can never go back to playing with a free account again. The latest expansion Endwalker also includes previous expansions (Stormblood and Shadowbringers), if you just want to buy everything in one go anyway.

I think this explains what happened to me. I got the Starter Edition but haven’t been able to play with a free account ever since.

    Seems to be issues currently.
It shows up as free for me, the purchase completes, and I even get the receipt emailed. However it does not show up in my library, and the store just acts like I dont own it, I can re order it again, and the same loop happens. (edited)

Yup, noticed that too. But luckily offer expires in May so plenty of time to try again. Hopefully they'll sort it out soon.

Do you need a sub to play to level 70 ? I have played before to lv 60 (edited)

Looks like the limit on free play is still 60 so even with this you would need a sub to go above 60.

When I read your comment, I replaced the 'i' in NOICE! with an 'n' on first glance...

    My reaction was literally 😨

What’s it like playing on Ps5? I’ve played it on PC in the past but is it more difficult on Ps5 without keyboard etc?

I actually prefer playing it with a controller. There’s a bunch of macros you can set up and honestly for me personally it’s just easier than button mashing on a keyboard.
