Many people think RAM is essential and little dispute here. However if you want to make 8gb run better you can download HP Omen software to optimise. It usually reduces my RAM usage dynamically by 2-3gb. For free (edited)

Windows uses spare RAM to cache files and data you frequently use. This makes your system feel faster, and apps load quicker. Using a program to clear this data from RAM will just slow your system down. If a program needs to use the RAM windows just reduces the size of the cache.

I personally wouldn't recommend any laptop with less than 16GB RAM. It will be a massive bottleneck.

£16 on Amazon and about 10 minutes of your time and this is a 16gb ram laptop

Apparently it's regular SODIMM and there's another slot, so you can upgrade the RAM. But even on principle there's no way a ~£1000 RRP gaming laptop with an RTX 3060 should be shipping with 8GB. When 8GB SODIMMs are retailing for £20 or less, how much do you think it costs for Lenovo to acquire them wholesale and add that extra 8GB to make 16GB the baseline? By not doing so, their greed is also hobbling their product performance by running in single channel. It's mental.

Is it dual channel 8gb or single channel?

Would be curious to know when the model came out and whether the backlit keys can be changed to different colours? (I know, it's small minor details) - Fantastic price though, have some heat!

Released late 2021. Backlit keys are white only.

No one should buy this and not upgrade the memory if using it for its intended purpose of gaming. If you are not gaming there are much cheaper / better value options without this gpu.

With 8gb of ram the laptop will work but your 1% lows will be horrendous!

It's a simple and cheap option to upgrade it's memory watch a YouTube video or take it to a local pc shop if you must.

I have an RTX 3060 Acer laptop which came with a single 8gb stick and the 1% lows were considerably worse than my gtx 1650 laptop which I had upgraded to 16gb.

    Heaven benchmark

Acer laptop with i5 12500h single 8gb stick 3200 ddr4 of ram and RTX 3060

Bought this from Costco on offer from £899 to £499 delivered. Had to stay up till 3am until it eventually went live. Only a few of us on here managed to stay awake and grab one before they "sold out".

It's a phanomenal laptop. I've upgraded mine to 16GB of RAM.

Upgraded the 512GB NVMe (which is very fast btw) to a 2TB Intel/Solidigm 670p Drive.

In the spare NVMe slot I've put a Crucial P3 Plus 4TB NVMe drive.

I've been able to play all my games on it after configuring the Nvidia Control Panel settings.

Love it! So much so I sold my gaming desktop

Edit: Lies! This is the one I got from Costco...

Excellent deal. 8gb RAM is plenty for most users. I have 4gb in my 2009 iMac and it works perfectly fine.

Exactly. There are very few situations where 8gb is going to be a real problem. Ideal for all? No. But 8gb RAM is very useable.

I did too but it was a challenge to get open haha

I got this deal with 1% cashback from Chase. I purchased 32gb of DDR4 RAM for £55 and 2tb of 6.6gbps read-speed M2 SSD space for £120, all Crucial brand. I added these pieces, which worked fine. For £925 (or ~£915 with cashback), I therefore got:

    1080p 17.3" screen 144hz
    RTX 3060 gpu
    Intel i5 11400h cpu
    2.5tb of m2 SSD space
    32gb of DDR4 RAM (2 sticks of 16gb)

That's really the stuff worth mentioning. This laptop was purchased for casual gaming and work on a smaller screen (though large for laptop). Gaming where I care about graphical quality will occur on my 55inch Samsung with my Series X 😁

Honestly thinking of getting a laptop like this as my gaming PC is hardly getting any use and when it is, it's mostly older games anyway...

It’s better than any of the very deals sub £1000 for sure, not sure if it delivers to NI (Costco’s site is as clear as mud on the subject) but for a 3060 and 17 inch screen this is pretty great, definitely a perfect machine for older games which is what I’m after too, plus that 11400 might not be a hundred core Intel rocket dragon lightsaber lake or whatever but when they jumped to 12th and 13th gen the power and heat jumped with the performance, I’d say the battery life and power usage on this are much better

Excellent deal. I got the £500 Ryzen 4800h + 1660 ti deal last time but would definitely pay £250 more for the extra horsepower from the 3060 especially as it supports DLSS. My 1660 to laptop runs perfectly but it is significantly older than this one, so for only £250 more this is fantastic
  22. CosmoKramer100's avatar

Looks a good deal for the price. I missed out on the Costco 1660ti machine a few weeks ago, but this could be worth the extra £££.

I take it this can be upgraded to 32gb ram (2x16gb) without any issues?

If it was a 3070 it would be an insane price, some places are asking this for a 3050 or even 1660 ti. For the extra screen size I’d say this is a bargain as is

Just to note that, for anyone who did buy this laptop, although the specs sheet suggests it has a max ram of 16GB, like many similar laptops it actually takes 32GB no problem at all if you need to further upgrade it now or in future.

Anyone reviewed the Lenovo warranty on this yet ? Purchased this, and the Lenovo depot 1 year warranty ran from March 2022 to March 2023 - meaning fully expired on purchase. Have raised a case with Costco. (edited)

Answer - register the laptop with lenovo online, look for menu option on warranty issue and submit an incorrect warranty request with proof of purchase and Lenovo fix in 24-48 hours. Reinstated the 1 year for me from date of purchase. There is then a discount form with code, in the box for extended warranty offer worth using.
