i know people who are obsessed with taking their b/p several times a day, they are so tense and worried so obviously it is high, ditch the home machines unless your doctor recommends you do, hypertension thresholds have dropped in the USA so much because Pharmaceutical companies want to make money so more people will be falsely labelled with hypertension, please research overdiagnoses and overtreatment of hypertension by research papers by the likes of the BMJ no less

I'm speaking as someone who had zero symptoms but was walking around 6 months ago with a 200/133 blood pressure. It was only a routine optician appointment that picked up the signs of bleeding in my eyes that led to some tests and a diagnosis. You say wait for a doctors recommendation but in my case I wouldn't have spoken to a doctor as I rarely see mine before this condition was discovered as I don't get ill - I've not had a day off work sick in 14 years. So potentially the first time I would have seen a medic might have been to deal with a stroke or worse.
Yes some can be paranoid and overobsessed but I think everyone should have one of these in the home to check on occasion. Better to spend a few quid and not have to face the eye injections I am to try and reduce the macular degradation that has resulted from the bleed.
