Not a bad CPU for a budget gaming PC. Put this in a B550 motherboard to get PCI-E 4:

This cooler is only £16 and should be OK:

I would recommend 3200MHZ or 3600MHZ DDR4.
Pair this with an RX6600/RX6600XT/RX6650XT or Arc A750 and you will have a decent entry level gaming PC.

So under £100 with a much better cooler than the wraith stealth which is marginal. It also has pci-e 4.0 in a B550 board for both the main card slot and m2 slot. The 5600g/5700g are limited to pci-e 3.0 because they were made for laptops. The 5600 is faster than the 3600 no doubt, but I would spend more on the graphics card first. Going from an rx6600 to an rx6650xt for about £20 to £40 would give you 25% more performance!
The 5600G is limited to pci-e 3.0,which is important for pci-e 8X cards such as the RX6600/RX6600XT/RX6650XT. The RX7600XT/RTX4060/RTX4060TI are also pci-e 8x and I think future mainstream cards will be also pci-e 8x. As games use more memory they are more likely to spill into using system memory.
Directstorage is also more limited on pci-e 3.0 M2 drives and more games will use it,because consoles use something similar now.
Unless you need the integrated graphics,I would bypass the 5600g and go to the 5600 if you want to spend more and want more performance. (edited)
If you are pairing with a budget GPU and cash is tight it makes sense over the 5 5600.
I would have about 3 browser tabs open, whilst playing youtube constantly, running two monitors, and recording / streaming - it did everything without hiccups or stuttering or freezes
Recently upgraded to 3700x and a 2060 but have many fond memories of this 3600 - my first CPU.
I put a Quadro P2000 in a new build for my 12 year old and managed to bag a 240Hz G4 for £130. I'm almost jealous.
I just realised I have this same CPU in my build. Paid £185 for it in 2020.
The universe is sending me signals to upgrade. (edited)

I wonder why, they are not allowed.
