Not a bad CPU for a budget gaming PC. Put this in a B550 motherboard to get PCI-E 4:
hotukdeals.com/dea…238

This cooler is only £16 and should be OK:

I would recommend 3200MHZ or 3600MHZ DDR4.

Pair this with an RX6600/RX6600XT/RX6650XT or Arc A750 and you will have a decent entry level gaming PC.

For instance you can do a reasonable build for under £600 from Ebuyer:

I would probably spend the extra on the Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE,3600MHZ DDR4 and the RX6650XT deal here:

Fantastic 1080p build that, extremely reasonable mid gaming machine at a budget price.

Without a cooler, this is ANYTHING but cheap- better buy the 5600 or 5600g. Costs a little more, comes with a cooler, is a bit more power efficient, and a LOT more future proof if you game.

So under £100 with a much better cooler than the wraith stealth which is marginal. It also has pci-e 4.0 in a B550 board for both the main card slot and m2 slot. The 5600g/5700g are limited to pci-e 3.0 because they were made for laptops. The 5600 is faster than the 3600 no doubt, but I would spend more on the graphics card first. Going from an rx6600 to an rx6650xt for about £20 to £40 would give you 25% more performance!

The 5600G is limited to pci-e 3.0,which is important for pci-e 8X cards such as the RX6600/RX6600XT/RX6650XT. The RX7600XT/RTX4060/RTX4060TI are also pci-e 8x and I think future mainstream cards will be also pci-e 8x. As games use more memory they are more likely to spill into using system memory.

    50077375-mTZYd.jpg
Directstorage is also more limited on pci-e 3.0 M2 drives and more games will use it,because consoles use something similar now.

Unless you need the integrated graphics,I would bypass the 5600g and go to the 5600 if you want to spend more and want more performance. (edited)

If you are pairing with a budget GPU and cash is tight it makes sense over the 5 5600.

Great starter build CPU , i paired this with a Gtx 1060 6gb and it ran 1080p quite well indeed. .Very capable CPU for sure. Shame it doesnt come with the fan though, i used the stock cooler with mine.
I would have about 3 browser tabs open, whilst playing youtube constantly, running two monitors, and recording / streaming - it did everything without hiccups or stuttering or freezes
Recently upgraded to 3700x and a 2060 but have many fond memories of this 3600 - my first CPU.

That's a crazy deal. I built my nephew a little 3600 ryzen+ used 1080 GTX about a year ago and he's still hammering away at most of his e sport games at 120hz

    No way!

I put a Quadro P2000 in a new build for my 12 year old and managed to bag a 240Hz G4 for £130. I'm almost jealous.

I just realised I have this same CPU in my build. Paid £185 for it in 2020.

The universe is sending me signals to upgrade. (edited)

5600 hit £110 recently; so I’d be tempted to wait for it to come down again.

Ram is cheap too right now, just that those £30 budget am4 boards are now £60. Swings and roundabouts I suppose

Not having a stock cooler isn't a bad thing. The stock one with this is rubbish.

Not a good thing to show bias towards some sites.

I wonder why, they are not allowed.

I'm gonna say this is a bad buy as the i3-1200F is <£100. Multithreaded performance is similar but single threaded performance is quite a bit higher. Overall it has better price:performance.

You are absolutely correct that would be an awful purchase why would you buy that.
