For a huge upgrade from instant coffee even if using ready ground coffee from your local supermarket, this will give you a much better coffee. Add a grinder to it, with whole beans, and you're in a totally different from world.

No, it won't give you a shot like a £4-500 sage machine and yes if you spend some.more money, you'll get a much better machine. However, anyone willing to improve their coffee experience and save a lot of money with coffee equally as good as Starbucks, Costa, Pret, etc, this machine is perfectly capable for producing just that.

Not sure of build quality, probably plastic, but will do the job.

I love coffee and have the budget for a good machine £500 range, but it just looks like an absolute process or ritual to get right. I am in ignorant bliss drinking Douwe Egberts instant. Although, I really appreciate what I get from a coffee shop and would enjoy having that on tap at home...

Is this a good entry or should I do more research and go with something much better? (edited)

This is not too dissimilar to the Delonghi machines - I upgraded mine with a bottomless filter and after some time dialling it in, it pulls very good shots. Deffo worth it if you’re comfortable with modifying things.

I bought a bottomless filter, but got spray so switched to a bridge style one. Doesnt matter really so long as it's one without the valves etc.

Also got a Delonghi grinder and modded that to grind finer - that was the biggest difference to my espresso routine tbh.

I think it's highly likely this is the same machine as the Delonghi underneath.
