Under £10 a kg for this Vintage Cheddar. One for the cheeseboard for Xmas, never tried one older than 36 months before. Should be quite strong at this age hopefully

Bought some this morning to test it out before committing to it for Christmas, I’ll leave a comment once I’ve tried it

Absolutely nothing special really, for the price it’s really akin to any other mature cheddar. Not particularly sharp, not particularly nutty, inoffensive and nice enough taste but not much depth to it. Firm with some crumble to it, not creamy. I’ll be using it for cheese on toast and will probably buy something a little fancier for Christmas.

Also, the packaging was really irritating to get into, I had to cut it with a knife and because I ate so little couldn’t reseal it well enough without resorting to cling film. (edited)

This is probably a stack of the mild stuff from 4 years ago they've found laying about in one of their warehouses somewhere, so they've just changed the wrapper now to get rid

I’d be really cheesed off if that were the case (edited)

With the price rises it's not that much more expensive than 400grms sliced gouda at £3.29 it was £2.19 a year ago...

Tried to resist but had to cave in.

Must try not to gorge this at Christmas. (edited)

Tried cheese this old and it is quite an experience; only once I hope.

Shame they've dropped the 1000 day Gouda from their Christmas range.

Have a feeling this might be an "acquired * taste. Tried a 36 month cave aged cheese before but it tasted terrible, and I like a strong cheese.

    Does it smell of socks?
