Surely thats the best price yet for a 4TB?

This is excellent. But still needs to beat £177 from a few weeks ago for a Kingston 4TB

I would never use Transcend for anything where data loss would be important. INot for OS, or data storage. As a game drive, fine. Transcend are always bargain-basement, made as cheaply as possible. Their SD cards are horrendous quality.

This makes no sense. You don't base loss of data on a single drive, you base it on a backup plan. If you have a proper backup plan it doesn't matter what drive your data is stored on you will have a very good chance of recovering the data. Think about it this way, if you had the most reliable drive ever known, you can still lose your data to fire, theft, stupidity etc. This is entirely the wrong way to think about data loss. The correct way is a backup plan.

These or the MX500 from Amazon.de for £200? (edited)

The MX500. Its faster with much higher reliability. There's a reason the transcend is cheap.

I'm not very knowledgeable about these. Is this better than the 4TB Samsung QVO?

    a) those are meaningless numbers invented by Transcend
    b) I'm not talking about endurance of the cells, I am talking about the entire device.
