I've bought a couple of camera lenses from ebay that were very cheap as there was a filter stuck on them. One was very low profile and other large - this eased them off with no force or hassle - so saved me a few hundred quid.

Now have one for jars and one for cameras!

Another trick is to simply stretch an elastic band around the lid to add grip. Works like a charm

Hmm whenever I buy costco jars and containers I have to get a freaking giant clamp out of the garage and attach it to wrench the damn things off, I should really invest in a proper tool

    give him the clamps, clamps

You can use a spoon which can be pushed in under the lid between the jar and lid lip. Then push the spoon handlt towards the jar to bend the lid just enough to let air in and unseal it.
