Animated adaptation of the best-selling novel by Richard Adams. When rabbit Fiver (voice of Richard Briers) has a premonition of his warren being destroyed by man, he persuades his brother Hazel (John Hurt) and a few other friends to flee in search of safety. They have many adventures along the way, until they encounter a vicious race of rabbits who are determined to prove their supremacy.

When a young rabbit named Fiver (Richard Briers) has a prophetic vision that the end of his warren is near, he persuades seven other rabbits to leave with him in search of a new home. Several obstacles impede their progress, including predators, a rat-filled cemetery and a speeding river. Upon arriving at their final destination, a hill dubbed Watership Down, the rabbits find that their journey is still far from over. Realistically drawn, this British animated film carries an emotional weight.

I am sure at one point he tells the rabbits to ‘pee’ off! This film is wild for a U rated movie, by todays standards it would be a 15

Beautiful film and wonderful soundtrack by Angela Morely. We used to have the vinyl single of 'Bright Eyes' as kids but I always preferred the B-side 'Kehaar's Theme' for it's great Saxophone. I'm lucky enough to live just down the road from the real Watership Down and the film captures the area well.
