The Wharfedale Diamond SW-150 Subwoofer is an excellent starting point in high-fidelity audio. Unbeatable at this value, it strikes the perfect balance between power and sound quality. The SW-150 shares in the revolutionary technology, amplifier modules and filter stages feature on every Wharfedale SW model subwoofer, but at a fraction of the price. It is possible to switch off all filters and allow the AV processor to control the effective frequency range of the subwoofer.

The long throw 250mm driver will deliver a thundering bass sound that will immerse you in your favourite entertainment, improved even further by the forward-firing design. The Wharfedale Diamond SW-150 has a 150W RMS amplifier power to transmit solid audio signals that make for a more robust sound. The SW-150's reflex ported design will also reduce distortion and allow for elevated bass reproduction.

Don't waste your money, these are garbage, all the subtlety of a cheap computer speaker sub.

If you're in the market for a lost cost sub a BK Gemini should be your starting point, currently available direct from manufacturer for £230...

Night and day better than the Wharfdale.

    Wot he said!

Also look at their ebay seconds store. Like brand new for a bit more discount. I think it's called colossus

    Under £200 I went with Polk psw10e

It was £152 on Amazon great research for a budget friendly sub

I've had the SW150 for about 15 years now it is still going strong. Could you get a better sub like the Gemini for twice the money new? Sure twice the money will get you something better in just about any sphere. But I'd put money on the fact that once auto-calibrated with an AV system, most people wouldn't notice much difference between them in the average living room. If you're trying to fill a bigger cinema room, you probably aren't looking at £135 sub-woofers...

You're so wrong, your comment implies you have no experience of this, I have and the difference is massive but unfortunately you can't appreciate it without hearing it. No auto calibration can make this perform any better as it just doesn't perform as it claims in the first place.

If you want good value for your money, don't throw it away on one of these.

Great deal. An excellent subwoofer bought it when £150 a few weeks back and was happy paying £150 so at £135 steal

It so, so isn't excellent. I had one to replace my old on paper similar spec Paradigm but it was complete rubbish in comparison sent it back and got a BK. If you just want uncontrolled booming it will work fine, if you want a sub to do what it's supposed to look elsewhere, a decent one can improve your whole system whatever you're playing not just vibrate the furniture in action films.

Just a question how hard is it to repaint subwoofers?

Bought a few months back from AV. For the money, no real complaints. It is still draws power (about 11W) when no signal being sent which is a bit high for something that's meant to be in standby. Resolved with an energy saver plug that is turns off the sub when the amp stops drawing power. I'm no audiophile and bought this to replace a failed Kef PSW. The Kef looks nicer but sounds wise I don't notice much difference.
