Ones in Aldi are far better and actually contain pork.

Both Aldi and Lidl have them and they're 80% pork without being mechanically separated.

    What does mechanically separated mean?

Paste made of sphincter, cloaca, brain stem - that sort of thing I believe. AKA white slime when it comes to poultry.

Aren't the crucial words "Hot Dogs"? Haven't hot dogs historically always been made from crap so nobody should have high expectations apart from the deliciousness?

Always get these when on offer, they have taste unlike most of those bland tinned ones.

Possibly a stupid question, but what is wrong with mechanically separated meat? Surely it's better than wasting it? If people like the taste than it's a good use of whatever's left of the animal.

People just like to moan about it because it makes them feel superior somehow.
