    Compared to what?

Edit: The full price is £300 and it’s the cheapest it has ever been. But yeah, it’s a relatively niche product (each type of door needs a different type of lock) so is more expensive than a regular dumb door handle and cylinder, if that is what you’re comparing to. (edited)

Installed mine a month ago , easy peasy. Tape measure and screwdriver all that's needed . Works well with Google ,

The l1 needs the z wave adapter that sits on the inside lock. £40 I think then you have an l2. To add key cards just open up Yale app and create new person and wait for it to put fob/ keycard on the sensor for it to register . Very simple ,

Is there a back-up mechanical mechanism, and if so what type? The trend I see is for smart locks to actually be less secure than well made & pinned traditional designs.

I been using L1 (1st Gen) over year now and I love it, I added Wi-Fi module and work perfectly with my Apple Watch and iPhone.

I know a while back people were having issues with the software, and then having to wait till Yale sent out an update. Which at the time put me off

The reviews were up and down (edited)

Hoping Yale announce a HomeKey compatible lock this year. Sitting on the fence until then

The Linus is compatible I believe? Rather than replacing the handle it sits behind on the thumb screw to lock/unlock. Also means if it fails you can still use a traditional key, and doesn't look "smart" from the outside which apparently some people prefer so they aren't a "target" (what a world we live in when we have to hide nice things because so many people will try and steal them)

When I was looking in to these awhile back there were lots of negative reviews about rain and moisture getting on the sensor causing continuous beeping, is that still an issue with the L2?

It has not happened to mine at all but that’s all I can say.

I've purchased one of these and I have to say it's probably the worst smart home device I've purchased.

It's app is terrible, the lock feels like junk, the connectivity is terrible. Bluetooth takes many attempts before it finally connects and wifi never works.

A standard key door lock is much faster to open.

I wouldn't trust this garbage to securely lock my side gate, definitely wouldn't trust it to lock my home.

I can’t agree that the app is terrible. The old app for the old L1 model yes, but not this one. My wifi has been flawless, mine has only ever disconnected when my internet connection was down (and it immediately sends a notification - in fact it is the first thing that notices).

My old standard lock is definitely not faster to open either, because it unlocks before I even reach the door.

I’m not actually a huge fan of it, I do t think it’s the best smart home device and in particular the module+bridge (1 per lock) is clunky, but I have a lot of smart home products and this is nowhere near the worst. I would have said that about the L1 because of the atrocious Conexis app, but there is nothing wrong with the hardware ar all IMO and with the L2 August software ecosystem it has transformed the experience for me.
