His style is influenced by the works of Jorge Zaffino , Mike Mignola , Darwin Cooke and the Italians Sergio Toppi , Ivo Milazzo and Massimo Carnevale . Bermejo tends to use photographs as a reference and in designing the costumes he makes things that would look good in the real world, not just in a comic
