How to Set Up Echo Dot 3
Below is a list of step-by-step instructions to help you set up your Echo Dot 3rd generation device as quickly and pain-free as possible.
The first thing you will need to do is download the Alexa companion app on your smartphone or tablet.
Once you have logged into the app go to the devices tab in the bottom right corner of your screen.
Then press the "+" sign on the top right corner or the three horizontal lines that are located in the top left of your screen.
Select "Add Device"
You will see a selection of devices, be sure to choose "Echo Dot" by pressing the icon on the screen. Then be sure to select the 3rd generation model.
Plug in your Echo Dot with the cable that was included in the packaging, when the light ring at the top is orange instead of blue the device will be in set-up mode.
Once the Echo Dot appears on your phone you select it and then choose the Wi-Fi network that you would like to connect the device with, entering the password as necessary.
Then you can either select another external speaker you want to use together with your Echo Dot or use the device as is.
Then simply add the device to a pre-existing room or create a brand new one and then you're off and running!
