Also they could be scratched to bits.
However any form of engraving or personalisation makes them C grade automatically.
I've had pretty brand new Apple devices before but maybe said Best Apprentice reward of something on the back.

Which won't cover the battery.

I don't think the devices were 'loved' very much if they're at C quality.

I can't bring myself to spend even 3 quid on this. It looks terrible in YouTube reviews!
awesome thanks
I sold mine ages ago, nice tablet but not very good build quality, I got the galaxy s2 8inch now and I much prefer that, slimmer and better built, the fingerprint scanner is a bit slow but at least it has one and it charges quicker too imo.
my nexus 9 is discharging while charging.

also finding my nexus 9 16gb painfully slow, looking to upgrade any opinions for £120-180?
ive now got a samsung tab s2. Like it, but prefered my 100% nexus. Not many premium 9/10 inch tablets to choose from. Wish id got the Pixel when it had £100 off from Google.

I've got a nexus 9 and I also really regret not buying the pixel when I had the £100 off. My 9 is just about holding together, it always charges and when i cleared the cache it improved it quite a bit.

I received mine today, but it's going back. There is some light bleed from the bottom left of the screen. Took hours to update the os before I noticed too. Think I'll spend a little more and go for the s2, at least that has the sd card option too.
I have tried to return it at an Argos store but they refused to take it back and said I need to contact "Nexus" if there is a quality issue. Could they actually refuse the return given the purchase falls into the distance selling category?
Hi, have you returned the tablet finally? I was offered a collection for it. Then the courier came to pick it today. However, no receipt was left. The guy left me a tracking number when I asked. But I even don't know which courier company they use...
Not related to the deal, but I want to post my impressions any way.

The tablet is incredibly quick and smooth to operate under every load it has been placed under. I have not seen it struggle with anything yet.

On my device, the light bleed on the bottom left is barely noticeable. I needed to sit in a dark room and reboot it to look for it. Even then, it was barely visible against the black background and in a dark room.

It takes AGES to charge fully - This is when using the official charger. The best part of three hours in fact.

It is light, but not as light as I had expected.

The camera is actually disappointing. I was expecting the Nexus 5 sensor, but it is clearly not as good.

Overall - it is an excellent tablet any way. Very glad to have got it.

If you ordered it online you have 14 days to return it for a full refund as long as you've not abused it. Just send them a mail stating that you wish to cancel the sale under the regulations. They also do not have the right to direct you to the manufacturer for any faults, your contract is with them, not the manufacturer.

no value at any price. thing is next to useless as both a stand and a cover.
These aren't the best in my opinion, they can easily fall off when in use, I find. As a cover, they are really good, but somewhat lacking as a stand. Great price though!
I've only just picked one of these up - for about £12 from an ebay seller. My views:

If you're the kind of person who likes fairly high percentage protection of your device - you dont want marks or scratches on the back or side and are extremely protective of the glass - then don't go near this thing.

If you like the idea of naked, light, as-the-makers-intended device and you try to have minimal protection on your phones and tablets but also like the idea of having a kind-of-reliable standing mechanism close to hand then give this a shot i reckon.

i hate bulky cases that increase the size/weight of things by much - i always dump them after i realise i enjoyed the device more before i had the case. so i really like this case but the magnets aren't strong enough imo - mine is from nov 2014
Bigsmoke825
Actually £5.99 and cheaper with free delivery via Rakutenhttp://www.rakuten.co.uk/search/Nexus%209%20Magic/

Actually that's incorrect. Delivery is not free for less than £100 spend. Final price inc del is £11.39
Works fine for me, i remember reading some saying the magnets were not strong enough to form the stand, but that it had been resolved on newer versions of the nexus 9.

anyone who got this edition, goto battery options and see how much power "mobile standby" is draining. ive lost 25%, effectively reducing my battery from 6700mah to 5025mah! Ive got this thing on charge more than than not and there is no wonder why anymore. hows everyone else finding it??

Seriously doubt it. I don't think they stocked the LTE model normally. This must have been a one-off wholesale buy.
from what I remember they did stock it, but it was a while back when they did(November time last year they did as I was going to get one from there)

No it's not. I actually rang up the central support line, 4 days after this deal was posted, to find any shops stocking it. They told me it's not available anywhere. So I called a few local London ones to make sure they just weren't showing up on the system, none there either.

Good price but definitely go for 32gb if you can get/afford one. 16gb would be fine if you just want it for email and general browsing.
Nb Google have brought out the pixel C as the premium tablet offering, but the nexus 9 hasn't been discontinued or 'phased' out, not yet anyways...
Don't talk rubbish. 16GB is plenty of space.
Agreed. Has nobody heard of the cloud these days? I really don't get it... All of my photos and music are on the cloud. The only things I might store on it are a movie or 2 for long flights (4gb tops?) And apps. If you end up installing 16gb of apps you probably need to considering organising your apps a bit better.

The 149.99 deal was one day only & when I tried to buy one there was no stock for collection at any store or for delivery. Surprise surprise the next day the price was back up to 199.99 with stock everywhere and delivery option also. What a con!!!!
the white one was 149 briefly at argos so I'd wait if you missed it, it'll happen again somewhere soon I reckon
Rather spend the extra £3 and get it straight away from Argos.

I expected more Black Friday deals on these. Was tempted at the Argos deal but issues with the old stock they were selling put me off.
The white 16gb ones were £149.99 last Tuesday in Argos with free £10 voucher (it was on here but I can't find it now): I only mention this in case people think it's worth waiting for the price to come down again.

It's a nice tablet but whereas the Nexus 7 is still a good tablet after 2 years, this doesn't feel quite the same level of quality.

If I had my time again, I'd say this tablet is worth about £150. All of them suffer light bleed at the top of the screen and Chrome performance isn't great as it sucks way too much RAM. Change the browser to Habit browser and its a whole new ball game. The 4:3 screen is great for websites and the battery goes forever on Marshmallow.

Gotta agree, I got mine for £150 via Argos the other week and that price it's a fantastic tablet which will be well supported with updates for this year at least and should get whatever googles next major update is.

Just don't be paying £200 or more for it as the build quality isn't really upto it, it's no ipad killer but at the same time it's alot cheaper than a ipad.

Well finally received the £10 discount was meant to get on purchase no idea why never got the email. Just one chat and one 40 minute call. Argos customer service i rate as quite poor.
I ended up returning mine for a refund as some of the sensors (light, orientation) stopped working after two weeks, and as Argos was unable to replace it. They promised they'd sell me a Nexus 9 32Gb for £100 more, but did not honour this promise in the end.

who cares if the screen bleeds you dont even notice it when its on. Honestly what a bunch of moaners you all are!
Totally agree, bunch of drama queens.
Yes it's there but it's not even noticeable when your using it and not staring at the corners of the tablet.
On yours. You aren't in the position of speaking for everyone. Two of the three I bought were really bad, both had major light bleeding, one had very recessed buttons. If you are happy with defective goods, thats good for you. I'm not, as the item isn't sold as refurbished or grade b/c/ whatever.
I'm free to express my opinions, deal with it. With any electrical product there's always a chance of slight "issues" with the first iteration, if these "problems" were not so overly exaggerated then a lot of people would not have been put off from purchasing one.
Long story short, I'm happy with my £150 non defective product.
I never said you couldn't express your opinion, merely that you aren't speaking for everyone. As stated before, if you like defective goods, that's good for you. Others don't. You say slight problems, did you happen to view the two dodgy ones I received? Nope, you didn't. Hence you are blowing smoke out your ****.

Picked mine up from Argos on the way home from work. It has bad light bleed so taking it back tomorrow. It has a Nov 2014 manufacture date... there were issues with early units. Argos are obviously sitting on a load of old stock.

did you have any problems taking it back? I bought one but after reading some reviews and forums a lot of people are complaining about light bleed and it being slow and laggy and getting very hot. If i buy it, open it and am not satisfied with it freezing and being laggy and if it has light bleed would i be able to return it and get my money back?

Will argos let me have my money back if it has been opened?

I have just sent them an email as I have the same problem. Still showing on paypal at full price, however ebay shows the discounted amount.

Cold. I wouldn't go anywhere near a refurbished Nexus 9. There is a reasonable chance it has been returned for the build quality issues that plagued early units. A brand new unit is only £20 more at Argos.

I had the same light bleed on the two I bought from Argos. The one I bought from Google was perfect. like I said, convinced Argos bought defective stick hence the price.
Did you have any hassle taking it back to Argos for a refund?

Just picked up a brand new N9 from Argos. Can confirm light bleed all down one of the short edges of screen.
Still waiting for mine to be dispatched :-( They've taken the money.

I have a 32gb version bought from Argos a couple of months ago. It has no light bleed and the buttons are raised and easy to press.
Would've preferred smaller 8 inch screen but I've kinda gotten use to it now. Installed Android M and it flies now as well as having much better battery life.

Yea, the battery life is huge now. :)

This has a 1536 * 2048 screen.

All I see is that they have cheaped out from the prior 2560 * 1600 16:10 Nexus 10 which was far more all right. I really do not think I'm 'viewing it wrong'.

Nice. Just 10 quid cheaper than I paid 10 months ago.
32gb suits me fine but if you want to stoe thousands of MP3s or dozens of HD films then look elsewhere.
Will only change if a better 4:3 Android tablet gets released. 16:9 is all wrong.
4:3 is all wrong. Cause I use to watch movie. And watch movie on 4:3 is the worst experience I ever have these days
Personally have to agree, as someone who uses the tablet for media quite a bit, has to be 16:9, would never get a 4:3 ratio tablet.

I would never get 16:9, or even 16:10. They are only good for watching videos and nothing else.

Edited By: dz1 on Sep 28, 2015 16:28
That's totally true. I'd say that the N9 is probably the worst "pure Google experience" device yet.

Standard comment for when ordering from any of the Amazon Europe sites:
1. if you need to return the product, the postage will have to be paid by yourself. There is no free return.
2. the UK Royal Mail does not insure electronic items such as mobile phones: so in case of a return, the risk is yours
3. when paying try to avoid taking the Amazon pay in £ option. The exchange rate that Amazon offer is not good. If you have a credit or debit card that offers no exchange rate loading or fees (such the Halifax Clarity or the Post Office credit card) pay with those and again, ensure payment is made in Euros and not £.
Having said all of the above, given the current strength of £ against the Euro, I have bought from Amazon Europe, paid with a zero exchange fee method and taken the risk that I may have to pay for a return with no insurance cover. The reason is that from Amazon Europe prices, at times, can be much cheaper.
The above comment dos not cover the other issue of warranty claims. I do not understand the position there, as I to date thankfully have not had to make a warranty claim for an Amazon Europe purchase.
Hope the above helps potential buyers from Amazon Europe make an informed decision.
One more thing - VAT invoice uses same GB VAT of the same Luxembourg entity so to my knowledge should be equivalent to Amazon UK invoice - but in EUR of course.

Never ordered from Amazon France. How does it work ?
Use your UK account to log in. You could use all the addresses and payment methods in your UK account. -- Same as Amazon Germany, Italy and Spain.

Delivery wouldn't be next day even if you're Primer. If you don't speak French, try a browser that supports full page translation (Google Chrome does).

Not sure if it is worth that extra
Good price for the 4G version I suppose but if your in the market for this type of tablet I would highly recommend that you consider the Nvidia Shield Tablet. Comes with pure Android and the 32GB/4G version can be had for £299, in general it is a much superior version of this.

Cheers, just bought the last black one from Byker
Much faster then my old iPad 3
Just got one to replace my 2012 nexus 7. Wow it's faster .....

Nicely screen and runs smoothly.
Surely the Lenovo Miix is the best value for money? 32gb storage (granted some used by the OS). You get office for a year - or you could sell the key to somebody else. You get Windows 8.1 with an upgrade to 10 which as far as I know you can move to a desktop if you wish. I really cannot see how noodle can justify such a price for this tablet.
When you can pick up a 128GB card for £44 the extra for the 32GB is extortionate

bespoke+ quidco 235 for 32gb
Ended up buying one from Argos as I was to impatient :)
None left at John Lewis, and Amazon now sold out
Bespoke offers offered me different prices for the colours lol.... Guess no one like white;
White : £178
Black : £186

Just seeing if Flubit can do any better .... this was using Argos as a base line at £199
I bought one of these from Argos for same price and love it! had one when it launched and sold it as it was a mess on 5.0 but now it's on 5.1.1 it's running like a different tablet! so smooth!

I'm so impressed I'm thinking of ditching my note 4 and moving to the nexus 6 for the pure android experience!

Build is not on par or close to ipad but for £200 it's decent, front facing speakers are excellent and software is very slick.
Anyone know if this is the later production batch? ... I recall an older deal from John Lewis where some complained theirs was an earlier revision.

I wonder if John Lewis would price match on the bespoke offer price?

I've got an original ipad3 which I'm sick of, runs to slow and hate ios... I love my nexus 5, so nexus 9 is a no brainer , though must be honest it felt pretty plastic comlared to my ipad when i had a play with one in pc world last night

I bought the lenovo s8 50 tablet from the John Lewis deal a few weeks ago. Seriously, 69 pounds after cashback! It's such a steal, I could've bought three for the price of this! It is flawless so far as I can see, also the dual stereo speakers are top notch and the display is fantastic. Around 8 inches is the sweet spot for tablets I believe.
How is the battery life on the Lenovo?

it's OK, probably it's weakest point. I suppose around five or six hours screen on

It is nice hardware, but Android does not really work well on a tablet. Most apps are "optimised for phones" only, and leave a lot of ugly free space on a tablet. That also applies to Google apps, especially since Lollipop.
Seriously, I would rather consider a Windows tablet (or an iPad mini).
Nexus 7 (2nd gen) does all that I ask of it - apart from make the tea - so I can't see where you're coming from.
I don't have a Nexus 7, so I can't comment on that, but maybe it has to do with the size? A lot of the new Google apps just don't look good on a 10" screen.

That isn't quite what you said in your initial post ie " but Android does not really work well on a tablet."
Perhaps you need to be a bit more specific in future rather than throw about random comments.
Doubtless you will also have read other's comments re Android on 10 inch tablets and it seems that you are in a minority of ONE with your comment.

I have quite a few Android tablets ranging from 7" to 10.5" and Android works perfectly fine on them with no layout issues (including the Google apps or even ones marked as "Designed for phones"). I do run CM 12.1 on them (aka Android 5.1.1) with the Apex launcher, but that doesn't affect what the app does when it's run.

I also have an HP Stream 7 (Windows tablet) and the user experience on that is terrible in its "tablet mode". It was so bad, I forced it into desktop mode on login (Classic Shell is your friend) and plugged in a mouse (and sometimes keyboard...a USB hub) if I'm doing something "serious" on it. Windows tablets have one advantage - you can run legacy Windows programs on them. If you're primarily a Linux user like me though who doesn't have legacy Win cruft to run, Android completely wins hands down if you're talking about the actual tablet experience.

I believe he is a troll. Or apple wanna be

Hmmmm I wouldn't be seen dead in Starbucks with one of these slabs of virii.
"Viruses. It is not viri, or (worse) virii. True, the word comes directly from Latin, but not all Latin words ending in -us have -i as their plural. Besides, viri is the Latin word for 'men' (plural of vir, 'man', the root of English virile)."
Has your elite Apple Spell Checker got a virus?
Looks like you have yet to learn to expanded into the urban dictionary or urban fashionable words. When you do a google word search do not read only the first entry google plays back but look also at the second and third listings as they may just contain the gems of word definition that you may need, though its usage may of course be wrong, if enough people use it, it could become a correct usage in the years to come as there is no recorded plural for virus in Latin.http://www.unwords.com/unword/virii.htmlhttp://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=virii

I don't do "urban" or go to starbucks.

This one never did seem to take off like the Nexus 7 and 10 did, so not surprised by the sell off price.
Maybe a new one is in the works for the Fall.
Fall?
Fall/Autumn.
Whichever you prefer.
This is UK/England. It's autumn.
I'm doing my bit for cultural integration.
Doing mine for preservation.
This probably more appropriate then bearing in mind the locale that they are made in.
Why do straws and plucking come to mind?
I don't really care what you call it.
Just be careful with the word 'fanny'

Oh yes, I nearly forgot, Google is an American company.
Not surprised you 'nearly forgot.' It's clear you forget you're in the UK using a UK based website.
Do what you you think makes you appear cool and hip (I trust that's an American phrase too; so you shouldn't have trouble understanding that).

Peace out bro and have a nice day now y'all.

dreadful piece of kit, upgraded my Tab 3 10.1 to this and went back to the Tab 3 after about 2 weeks. Screen is iffy to say the least, no HDMI output, What a step back.

Why are people quoting currys thread? ... Its £299 ... has been for a while... they only price matched JL.
And JL special offer finished a while back, and its now full price again.

So cheap deal this if you need it.

Bought this from Amazon last week and in process of sending it back. Battery life is poor half the apps crash and god it gets warm when playing games!
Nobody should buy this at more than £199 in my opinion (not worth much I know!). If everyone holds off and they carry on not selling, the price will drop even further. I'll buy the 32gb when it gets down below £200.

huld2 is cheaper I agree but have performance issue .
hudl2 all the way
i went to the same store two days ago...they had the misprinted price ticket. Managed to snag a 32gb for £199 and its the new December Serial!

if it helps, they also had an opened box 16gb in their 'reduced to clear' section. I'm sure someone can negotiate that.

The experience is really good no Screen bleed and good tactile feedback on key.
Does any one know screen bleed issue is from start or it occur later
The site says made in Taiwan which I presume is HTC manufacturing center

Ah cool.
What was the date the site mentioned?

From what I've read, it sounds like screen bleed will appear in the top left corner from the start. If there doesn't appear to be any, then good for you. :)

Does haggling really count as a 'deal'? If you can't go in and get that price without smooth talking or negotiating it's not really a deal.
Ya you are right haggling is not deal but logically of nexus 9 is 199 everywhere there is very high chance open box would be 15%-25% cheaper and if not courteous explanation to manager should be enough to get that price. I hope this help someone.
Also if bleed this comes with 2 year guarantee.

Hi,

What is your experience of the tablet so far?
How are the volume and power keys?
What do you think of the screen (espcially edges) is there any noticable lightbleed?

The first 5 characters of your serial number should indicate when it was made.
If you enter the first 5 characters of your serial number here http://htc.epicfoobar.com/ what does it say?

Thanks
