Where do we stand with a warranty claim OLED Screen burn

I Bought the LG E7 which I found on HUKD where you could claim back £500 from LG. It’s 18 months old now and I’ve noticed patches from screen burn. It’s very annoying and am now thinking of doing a warranty claim. I have heard horror stories where they call it neglect and screen burn isn’t covered!
When I bought it I was offered curry’s insurance “TeamKnowHow” which is a repair and support plan. I still pay the £5.99 each month and I’ve also heard they don’t cover it. Has anyone had experience with this?

Just don’t mention screen burn on the phone as soon as your do it will void any warranty. Just say your tv image is faulty and not fit for purpose, it’s down to them to diagnose it..

I have a LG pled about 20 months old, I bought it from richersounds with a 6 year warranty. I hade screen burn on mine was the kids on YouTube. Anyway richersounds said it wasn’t covered but they told me to phone LG and explain the situation and say I was told to contact you by richersounds and could you offer me the discount price to fix it ? Anyway they said yes and the discount price is £200 which I paid then richersounds would give me £200 and put in my bank account. LG collected my tv and was away for 2 weeks. I ended up with a brand new screen. I would contact LG and say Currys told you to contact them for the discount price of £200. Hope this helps

If anything when doing a claim say you have faded oled pixels or a colour fault, as soon as you say the words ‘screen burn’ you’ve pretty much accepted liability.

Screen burn isn't covered by the warranty. Might be worth trying the below:

Manual Pixel Refresher is also available in case you notice any image retention or when you get a reminder to run it after 2,000 hours of watching. Follow these steps for manual start:
First, long press the setting button on the remote control to enter the settings menu
[Setting] → [Picture] → [OLED Panel Setting] → [Pixel Refresher]

Waste of time paying curry’s for anything. Even if it falls within their remit you’d need a miracle to get them to sort it.

I got a C7 from currys with the 5 year warranty. Had what I thought was screenburn from my own (or partners) fault a couple years ago where there was a square in the middle visible (more) on certain colours.

Turns out it was a well known issue with a few YouTube videos on it when I started researching it again.
LG are in the middle of sorting

I have insurance with domestic and general. They cover screen burn. Never had to claim but was told when I took out the policy. (edited)

But there are people on hukd who insist that this won't happen to oled screens.

Every product has faults from LG to Samsung to Apple, they may sell one hundred thousand units if you see 100 people on forums that have screen burn/image retention which is 0.1% doesn’t make it a bad product and the vast majority of those get the panels replaced without an issue..

First lets get the terminology correct, screen burn is an old term referring to the phosphor coating burning on old CRTs. It is called image retention on an OLED and can potentially be reversed. Also worth noting that LG is the only manufacturer of OLED.
There are ways to revive an OLED with pixel refreshing, as it's a LG device that is built in to the device
(There are two anti-image retention systems incorporated into LG OLED TVs, the short-term Pixel Refresher and the long-term Pixel Refresher).
You may find running a solid colour for x hours may revive the OLED.

Cheers all, I’ll give it my best shot and report back once I know if they will cover it or not. But I usually have bad luck 😔
