It was used regularly on trans-pennine routes (Snake pass and Woodhead). The car was c.750kg and passed many other vehicles on every trip, and corned brilliantly. I don't think wheel barrow wheels would have cut the mustard.
In 2021, I always beat Tesla or any sports car. You simply cant get from A to B any quicker on the UK congested roads. Every bend has a speed camera, motorways have average speed measuring devices. You may get from 0 to 60 quicker but for the journey, you gain nothing. These little Citroen C1s happily run along at 70 mph on the motorway, cost from £20 down to £0 to tax a year, run on a timing chain and have a unbreakable TOYOTA engine. You can park it in any corner without hassle and no one wants to nick it or cut your cat converter off. The days of owning my Cavalier SRi, booming along the motorway at 120 and driving from Kent to Hull in 3 hours flat as speed cameras did not exist are well and truely gone.
