The Celestron 114AZ-SR Reflector Telescope uses an Altazimuth mount with slow motion control, so your view will stay smooth and steady when tracking.

Perfect for setting up at home, the adjustable full-height tripod lets you set the most comfortable height and position for you. There are 2 eyepieces included for those times when you want more magnification power.

Take your own photos of planets, stars and more with the included smartphone adapter. The telescope is simple to set up as no tools are required, so you can get stargazing in less time.

Is this any good for a beginner?

No. The problem with this is the mount is virtually useless. Best beginners scope if probably a Heritage 130p table top Dobsonian. Bit more expensive but worth it.

I moved to the UK last year and barely go out my telescope twice.
Its usually cloudy or partially cloudy. Sometimes it appears clear, but after observing through the telescope, its hazy.

How often does one get chance to stargaze in the UK and during which months?

Don't know how useful this is, but on the coast you can sometimes get lucky as the wind will often clear the skies for a while. Some of the best night skies I have seen have been in the height of winter for brief period after a major storm

I've had this for a while now. Bought some cheap svbony eyepieces recently. Jupiter is very bright in night sky atm, but unfortunately, I can only see it as a bright dot in my telescope. I can see its moons though, so pretty cool. I'm a complete beginner so a lot to learn. Took this picture this morning. Not the best quality, s21FE 2x digital zoom, 20mm eyepiece. Shaky camera mount.

what camera mount are you using? i picked up a Gosky clone from amazon for a tenner. (the Gosky ones are £16) does a pretty good job. the Gosky/solomark camera holders are better than the cheaper all plastic ones.

one of jupiter and the moon from a few months back. 47852843-amDAS.jpg47852843-HzL1B.jpg (edited)

Does it show Mars? If not it's no use to me as I'd like to keep an eye there.

id recommend a certain chinese website for eyepieces. got some celestron omnis for a tenner each. much better than the ones usually bundled with a telescope.

does anyone know of a good AR ISS tracker app? i tried two different apps (skyview and Start Walk 2) and they both locate it at different places at the same given time.

ISS detector Pro is a good app. It doesn't have AR but has the pointing function.

Better off with a pair of 15x70 binoculars. A small scope with an awful mount like this is more likley to put off a budding young astronomy. Or even better stretch to a small 114/150mm dobsonian.
