Voted hot. This is a 45w power bank and works with laptops. Not many similar power banks around and certainly not for this price. I did some research as I really wanted a power bank for a laptop. Quite a few no names available claiming high specs for cheap prices, so I don't trust them. Charmast is one of them.
If you need a power bank for laptops hopefully my findings will help you:
    - Anker does one but is expensive
    - Baseus does 65w 20 and 30k mah, for about £40-50. I kept an eye on it, the cheapest I've seen it was about £36 from China. I think they were about £30 before Brexit, obviously the taxes put the price up.
    - Ravpower is back on Amazon. Under Haniz brand. Wanted their 60w 20k mah a year ago, was about £30 but soon vanished as Ravpower was banned on Amazon. I've looked for a year and could not find it under £50. I've got it on Prime from Amazon, £25 and I could have got it even cheaper, they dropped the price to £23.50 but only for about 30 min. The normal price is £40 (at that price I think I prefer Baseus) but they give vouchers for about 20% off once in a while. It fast charges my S21 but no PPS, so no super fast charging.
    - This Mophie as the best value vs capacity, you just have to realise you compromise on wattage for the capacity. Very good price and a leading brand in power banks.

But get something else if you need it for the phone only, unless your phone supports 45w charging and you want to take advantage of this.
Hope this will help some of you. (edited)

Thanks OP. I have ordered one. Seems like a nice upgrade to my 4 year old 10K pack. Return is on them. If it appears too big/heavy, at least I can send it back.

Can I Take a Power Bank on a Flight?

    "...
What size power banks are allowed on flights? Now that you know it’s possible to take a power bank on a flight, it’s important to note that they must be under a certain capacity. Power banks taken on board a flight must not exceed the 100Wh (Watt-hour) limit. Generally, the majority of power banks don’t exceed this limit but it’s worth checking the capacity of your portable charger, regardless.

How many Wh is my power bank? Although most power banks are under the 100Wh limit, it’s important to still check the capacity before you take one on a plane. There will be nothing more annoying than packing a massive power bank in your hand luggage to only have it taken off you at security for being over the limit.

How to calculate the capacity: If you are somewhat confused about how to calculate the capacity, then not to worry. We have outlined a simple calculation method below, to help you check the watt-hours of your power bank.

Just take the Milliamp Hours (MAH), divide it by 1000 X Voltage (V) = Watt Hours (WH)

    (MAH)/1000 X (V) = (WH)

Still unsure? Take a look at our example below using the Anker PowerCore 3A 10400mAh Portable Power Bank:

The Anker PowerCore 3A Power Bank has the capacity of 10400 Milliamp Hours. If we divide this number by 1000 and times it by the Voltage of 5, we’d be left with 52 Watt Hours, which is under the limit of 100Wh.

    10400/1000 X 5 = 52

What if my power bank exceeds the limit? If your power bank exceeds the limit and you still want or require to take it on board with you, you will need to get special permission from the airline you are travelling with.

Can I take more than 1 power bank with me on a flight? With most airlines, yes. But it’s worth checking with them before you fly. British Airways states that a person can take a maximum of 4 batteries of up to 100Wh, this includes the batteries used in mobile phones, digital cameras, and laptops..." (edited)

"Priority+ charging" makes it sound like it can be used kind-of like a UPC. Can anyone confirm? Is it too big to take on a plane? (edited)

Bought one in the recent deal on here two weeks ago, two things I found were it will only charge using the supplied charging cable and the charging LED goes off after a few seconds but it continues to charge. Nothing else other than it's quite heavy and not really suitable for carrying around.
    MisterGiGS's avatar
This battery bank should charge with any USB C to USB C cable designed for 45w or higher charging (along side a USB C PD 45w charger). I have charged it with an Anker Nano II 45w charger and an Anker 333 100w USB C to C cable without any issue (these were all bought to facilitate use with my Valve Steam Deck)
  6. MisterGiGS's avatar
Bought this for my Steam Deck. Works perfectly and does charge the Deck at 45w, seems after some testing to get 1.5 - 2 full charges of the Decks battery on a full charge of the power bank.

Also just bought for my SD. Got another Mophie (20k mAh) for my phone and it's great, but maxed out at 18w which just doesn't cut it for anything else.

I suspect so, if your ChromeBook supports the same charging standards the Mophie offers.

It's almost 700g to carry around with you though. (edited)

Though I'm probably about as far from the target market of these as possible (never travel any distance) I'm seriously tempted to get one or two of these simply because, from what I have read in the news, with all the supply issues over gas etc I am genuinely concerned about the prospect of blackouts happening this winter.

I know these wouldn't power any big appliances, or even anything mains powered, but would presumably at least give me a couple of charges on a phone, tablet or switch, so I could at least have some minimal communication/entertainment while I slowly freeze to death (we only have electric heating). Or would something like a UPS be a better bet for such a scenario?

This all may read as a joke BTW but actually a serious concern with the state of the world ATM... (edited)

Thanks for your reply. I thought I must not be the only one concerned about this, though reading the comments on here you would think so! I doubt anything more than having a few power banks on hand will be within the reach of my budget, as I’d imagine the other measures you mention run into the hundreds or more?
I'm quite in to this "prepping" thing as it is called, and I am worried about this winter for a few different reasons (energy prices, food prices, increase in crimes of desperation if people are struggling to put food on the table). But in all honestly, having a few power banks and torches around is probably all the prep that is needed. Energy is going to be expensive, but I don't think there will be widespread long term interruption of supply. Maybe a few local power cuts, and some difficulties restoring power to more isolated/exposed locations like least year.
Really wishing we had solar panels put on the roof now, but as our roof is VERY old we were concerned about the safety of adding the extra weight and stress of solar panels to it, not to mention the upfront costs but still wish we had that safety net now.
Yes, the cost put me off a few years ago. Regretting that decision now.

It is particularly concerning for us as one of us has diabetes and is completely housebound, so keeping the light (and heat) on is very important for us. We are on the priority services register through our supplier (British Gas), which I think gives advance notice of power supply issues, but I doubt they can do anything about simple lack of provision.
Your situation does sounds a little bit less resilient then others then. Being on the priority register is good though. If you are particularly worried about heat, then some extra blankets lying around doesn't hurt. If you've got a gas hob, then its nice to have a hot water bottle. Just in case you have gas but no electricity to run the boiler.

One more thing, I do have a Worx garden strimmer that uses those 20V heavy duty battery packs. I imagine they must hold a fair amount of power to run a strimmer for around 20 minutes, I wonder if there is anyway to convert them to a power bank for times they aren’t needed for their main use like Winter, or are they only suitable for high/fast drain applications?

Ah, power tool batteries are excellent for using as power banks, and you are correct that the hold a lot of charge. There is no issue with fast vs. slow discharge etc. I use Ryobi and Einhell batteries, and both of those have usb charger accessories (some of which have radios and lighting on etc.) available. Worx seems to have this one but at £25, it feels a bit steep for what you get. Worx sadly doesn't seem to have much else similar available. One advantage of a normal usb power bank vs. the power tool route, is that you can easily charge a usb power bank in a public place with a cable. But charging up a power tool battery requires you to bring the bulky charger with you.

Any more questions, hit me up.

How long would it take to charge one of these off the mains?. I'm thinking of getting it to charge up in the office each day and charge kids devices at home in/over night.
    MisterGiGS's avatar
With a 45w USB C PD charger (20v, 2.25amp output) about 3 hours. With a regular 5v 2amp charger about 10-12 hours (from my brief testing)

Careful when paying via Apple Pay. I might have messed up somewhere, but I applied the code, then payed via Apple Pay which then charged me the non coded price. Not too bothered but heads up for everyone else.

Mine arrived yesterday. I’m not impressed as it charges my iPad slower than other powerbanks. Yes, I’m using the suppled cable, though that ought not matter that much. Seems to be nicely produced, but I wouldn’t buy another one.
    MisterGiGS's avatar
Which supplied cable are you using? The batteries box and product description on Mophie's website state that it comes with both a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-A to USB-C cable. I ask because my battery only came with the USB-C to USB-C cable and another user here mentioned only receiving the USB-A to USB-C cable. This battery bank will only fast charge a device with a USB-C to USB-C cable.

Mine arrived this morning but I think it's DOA. Doesn't appear to have any charge and plugging it into a 45w charger doesn't light up any of the lights. Sucks.

OK so after a bit of research I found a video on youtube which showed what looks to be the same model with the same issue. The video itself didn't seem to provide a solution but the comments below it did.
The comments suggested using the supplied USB A - USB C cable to charge it for a few hours before using the USB C - USB C cable. I've tried it and what looked to be a DOA powerbank now looks to be charging (a single flashing light). But I've not tried the USB C - USB C cable yet so its too early to say if it is holding a charge or if it will work correctly but I thought I would share in case it works for others too.

I'm wondering if its been sat in a warehouse so long the battery has fully discharged and needed to be charged slowly initially? But I'm no expert so happy for others to correct me if I'm way off the mark.
    Peakins's avatar
Thanks, I just tried this out and a single flashing light appeared instantly. For anyone who has had their powerbank arrive DOA I would recommend trying this out!

also dont forget to register the product for 2 years warranty on mophie.com

update. Left it to charge overnight with the usb a to usb c cable. woke up and its fully charged.

my macbook air 2020 battery was completely flat, this was able to charge it back upto 100% with some juice left. It had 1 led lights on left.

Mow the battery pack is charging again (edited)

Tested on Steam Deck. Steam Deck was shutdown when charging.

Steam Deck Went from 0 - 100% and took half the battery off the power bank.

    Didn't recharge the power bank.

Steam Deck Went from 0 - 78% until the power bank ran out of juice...

Does this sound about right? I'm slightly confused with the Mah/Wattage ratio.

Probably a silly question but I noticed that the power bank has inputs of 5V3A, 9V3A, 15V3A & 20V2.25A and I have a phone charger that outputs 5V3A, 9V3A, 12V2.25A, 11V3A & 20V1.35A so what voltage will this power bank charge at when I connect it to that phone charger?

There won't be any issues if I use them with each other right? Is there way to only let it charge at 5V? I ask because I need the power bank when I go to a very hot and humid country and chargers end up getting extremely hot there so I would prefer to charge at a lower wattage.
    MisterGiGS's avatar
The USB C PD (power delivery) spec allows the power adapter and device to negotiate the voltage and current that will be supplied to the device by the power adaptor. The battery bank here supports any of those inputs, but you can't manually select which, you would have to have a charger that was only capable of a lower charging output to charge specifically at that lower voltage/current.

They have just responded to me and told me they are refunding me and no need to send back. This looks awful if they've sold a load and they are all failed. What could have caused this, sat in warehouse somewhere for the whole of the pandemic and bought cheap?

Sucks though, I really liked the look of this one for charging laptop and steam deck. Any alternatives to look at? (edited)
