Yankee Bundles ceased trading?

No deals on here for 3 weeks when it was almost daily and the website is "under maintenance" constantly. Anyone know anything?

Hi folks. We've been chasing this up after observing the same as you have over the past few weeks, and have had contact from the new owners

As the email posted above says, Yankee Bundles have been bought and rebranded. The new owner told us over email that existing orders will be fulfilled - though if anyone heard any different or especially has problems themselves then please let us know here.

    Thanks

I just received an email of the new branding and website.

They are now trading as discountdragon.co.uk

Personally i still think Yankee Bundles was a better name. (maybe i was just used to it)

So what's the story here, and is everyone happy to just continue after the rebrand?

As I understand it, Yankee Bundles was a trading name of "MY PLANET ONLINE LIMITED" which has entered Administration as of August 2022, so I'm a tad cautious about how to proceed here

Starting with the basics - is there any VAT details or a new company?

I just noticed that Paypal isn't an option so it is a no no from me.

Looks like all the complaints finally caught up with them...

They have 4.9 rating on trustpilot, far better than some closer to home

    Replying to

Probably because they were in very short supply of actual Yankee products but always in stock of out of date tat

Bought plenty of stuff from them, never had a problem. The IPA 5.5% cans went down a treat even though slightly out of date (Best Before).

Always found Yankee Bundles to be good. Food was either out or close to out of date but tasted okay to me. A quick peruse of discount dragon and the selection seems more limited and what there is, more expensive. Eg Starbucks coffee pods up to £20 from ~£12

The new website is absolutely terrible

Class Action against them for selling dodgy out of date chocolate stout.

I saw that thread when it was pretty new and have only looked at it again recently.

Must admit I'm pretty shocked by Yankee Bundles' responses on Twitter - @ing the OP passive aggressively.

Of course if you buy shortdated or out of date foodstuffs you've got to take the gamble (to be honest, I'd put it down to experience, if I wasn't out of too much money) but their response to it is out of order. Too much immature / unprofessional behaviour online gets dismissed as "banter".

A company is allowed to defend themselves but this isn't the way to do it.

Just received two items from there today (mind you, it was on the slowest delivery). Hope not, bought coffee from there numerous times and been pleased. (edited)

Hope not daddy needs his choc !

Someone finally got food poisoning from their out of date stock and now suing?
    Gingerdan's avatar
Probably that bloke who was on here a few weeks back complaining about his out of date beer not tasting right

Anyone who actually thought their petulant responses to criticism on Trust Pilot was a good thing needs to do some serious self-reflection.
    Md_Yusuf_Islam's avatar
Exactly , I found the responses extremely cringe worthy

No longer having PayPal as a payment method is a red flag considering it was an option when they were Yankee bundles . It just seems to me like they want to make it as difficult as possible for a customer to ask for a refund if something has genuinely gone wrong . Many people will go through PayPal to step in regarding an issue with seller about product but not many people will go to their bank and ask for a chargeback .

The other thing is that paying via PayPal means returns are essentially free but no other method offers that , and these guys don’t do free returns . It really does come across as greedy and money grabbing , with a hint of desperation
    Newbold's avatar
That’s odd. I wonder if PayPal won’t allow them an account? Red flag warning for me too

Trust Pilot finally got to Adam and he is now recuperating at The Priory.

Sadly, there's not been anything decent on there for ages.

Hopefully it will come back better.
    Md_Yusuf_Islam's avatar
Don’t hold your breath , it’s actually worse now lol

Let's be honest they lost the plot. Went from selling stuff people actually wanted. Turned into an online poundshop.

I must confess that the couple of times I bought chocs from them they always tasted off and were filed in the bin.
  21. jasee's avatar
I never thought they were ever much of a bargain, if you worked it out, and stuff such as 'health bars' usually tasted horribe or just of dates
  22. louiselouise's avatar
They could probably do with deleting some of "those" Tweets, if they're under new ownership. It does them no favours.
    hootz's avatar
Yes looks weird, seems like the one on the 10th was about the guy with the faulty cans that was on here before!
  23. payless's avatar
Just read the trustpilot replies…. Funny, fair and straight talking
    louiselouise's avatar
Maybe you should read the Twitter ones - they are actually @ ing a HUKD member! Replying numerous times looks even more unhinged.

If they genuinely do have new owners they'd do well to wipe those from public view.

I do like Yankee Bundles actually and will continue to buy, but I was quite appalled by their online behaviour. Sadly, as with websites such as ebuyer (who I refuse to shop with), you only find out how good a company really is when things go wrong.

All my orders have been fine, even last christmas (2021) I bought 2 yankee calendars expecting either the 2020, 19 or 18 and was given a 2021 for a fraction of the price everywhere else.

My Planet Online Limited is still shifting its tat on the bay, although literally only a few items available ATM and not much more indicated by recent completed items.
Marginally more items available from The Wax Outlet via Amazon marketplace.

    Discount dragon 🐲🐉

Probably as mentioned, they rarely have yankees anymore sadly.

Their web page now says my account has been suspended: Had a look at that Dragon site and it definitely looks as if it's them.

I've been watching the YankeeBundles site for a few weeks now after they removed a bunch of stock from the website, A few days ago, the site disappeared altogether and a placeholder was there saying "We'll be back soon. Today I have logged on and the site won't even load anymore. A check on their social media accounts also worries me as they have all been deleted.

It would be a shame if YankeeBundles has come to an end. I strugglked to find information on companies house to investigate further.

What are your thoughts? Is this the end for Yankee Bundles?

Am very sure after seeing this discussion that Discount Dragon is Yankee Bundles. The address is identical to before, My guess is they were threatened by the real Yankke company of the name infringement or something.

hope they are back as discount dragon, or as yankee, because they have always been very good.

TBF i also liked YB, used to buy a lot of Yankee Candles mainly from them at £10 each for a large jar, had no issues with them otherwise, wasnt aware of thier tweets, nor had read any of them.

Hopefully there will be more Yankee Candles sets for sale with Discount Dragon going forward.
  35. JRSC01's avatar
Awaiting to see if they offer the £10 each in bundles, large yankee candles...

On the grocery side, which is the only part I look at, and since they have rebranded/taken over, or whatever, , nearly all there products are either OOD, and quite a long way OOD or priced at the same as supermarkets and quite often at more than are sold for in markets and discount stores around the country.
As a clearance warehouse, they are not what I would call cheap or competitive since taking over and were better priced before, but not always; the only advantage I've seen by buying from YB and now DD is that of convenience of delivery for bulk purchases.

You have to spend over £20 for free delivery now.. And yep no PayPal so sadly bye bye 👋
