Was deciding which eggs to buy as they all seem to have doubled in price. Scanned these and discovered they are only 25p for 6!

Shelf edge says £1, hand scanner says 25p. Worth chicken other stores too?! Eggcellent offer, clucking good deal, no yolking around etc.

Edit: this is for any eggs you have at home that are past/getting close to their use by date.

If in doubt as to whether eggs have gone off or not do the submersion test.

Simply place the eggs in a big bowl of cold water and if they stay on the bottom they are ok and if they float to the surface they aren't.

Are these from caged or free range chickens?

Ohhhh good question. I’m sorry to report that the box says caged. I now feel bad for buying them

My Asda still has a 3 duplicate item limit since 2020. Pathetic.

Irregardless, I’d never condone the purchase of animal cruelty, no matter how cheap it is.

If you speak of animal cruelty, then I presume you don't eat meat(meat related products), eggs (or egg products), milk(or milk products) and no pets at home and eat only home grown / locally grown or home made food ??

    Thanks sir... (edited)

It's an eggcellent deal! There are no eggs to be had at all shopping on Asda online up here in Wakefield this afternoon! Completely out of stock although the website says they are limiting sales to 2 boxes per customer! (edited)

Weird… these were 25p a box and the egg section in general was about 80% stocked I would say. So supply issues must be regional I guess?

You often used to see at the side of country roads signs saying "free range eggs". I often wondered what a range egg was and what was so wrong about them that people gave them away for free!

Sorry only saw them in my local in Canterbury.

But you are right with your comment about the price, I initially picked up some ‘ASDA large eggs’ for which there was no shelf-edge price. Scanned them and it was £1.70! I’m sure they were about 80p not that long ago.

Then I saw these for £1 (not realising they were caged) and thought Aha that’s better - only to discover they were 25p.

Sorry if it is only a deal in my local store.
