The discounts aren't as good as they seem - the base 14" model has been selling at £1735 for months, not RRP.

Considering this too, although said I'd never buy from very again after a bad experience with a return! Can also get the 16gb version from Deccies on eBay for £1339 today....hmmm

Why not just say the name of the company instead of doing this long winded explanation lol

With the new M2 pro and M2 max MacBook Pro they should really consider lowering the price, but apple are really just being apple 🍏

They are not lowering the price because performance gap between them is not really big. I believe they will keep the M1 pro for a bit higher price than usually when a new version is coming out.

Lovely machines, but RRP should realistically be 1/2 the price relative to their specs.

ep, should be half price because of the specs, then double that for the build quality and bundled software, plus an additional 10% just to really annoy people who love plastic Dells that weigh a metric ton.

Typing of the 14 model, I love it.
Runs premiere pro like a charm, and I game from time to time which is nice delight.
I've always been against Mac, mostly because I knew I couldn't actually afford to try it but also because I've always had competitive windows PC's.

Yeh it's expensive, but I don't regret this purchase at all. Airdrop, connecting to my iphone, ease of use, fact it's just so simple, crash free (so far), superb battery life, great screen and its insanely fast.

Worth it, though would be overkill for most. My GF got the latest macbook air through work, i'd probably recommend the air if you're on the move often, still a superb laptop.

Agree with this. I was the same as you - being someone who was always against Apple.

I use premiere pro on a decent pc with 48gigs ram where at times I’m getting errors running out of memory and my 16gb pro handles 4k editing much nicer. No crashes and no issues. Airdrop is amazing too for transferring large files.

They have become the tech equivalent of Realpolitik under Cooks control. Read the recent book by Tripp Mickle about Apple. Cook saved them a fortune streamlining production costs, but totally screwed over the suppliers margins to increase Apples! Bit like M&S were 20 years ago.

Any links to alternatives with similar specs?

While the specs are always meh, if the Macbook lasts you 5-10 years then it becomes a reasonable purchase. I have a Macbook Pro from 2013 that's still working and is good enough for work and browsing.

Having said that, I never paid 1600 let alone 2000 for a laptop. It's Apple...

I always buy my MacBooks when they are on discount (this site makes it much easier to do that) but often sell after 3 or 4 years as they hold their value better than any other brand. Upgrading doesn’t actually cost that much in the end, especially if you use for work as I do and can claim as a legitimate expense.

Because everyone hates ‘the notch’ on their phone so much, they add it to their laptops! Decided to replace the battery on my 2014 MBA recently instead of buying a new one!

Don’t even see the notch on mine.. it’s plugged into a 27 inch monitor.

HUKD needs to fix their affiliate links for John Lewis, none of the links work for me anymore. Anyone else having the same issue?

I use a custom DNS (ControlD) so most affiliate links won't open. Check your DNS settings.

Just for everyone’s information. Our lovely sellout YouTubers with no care whatsoever that review these products completely neglected to mention . Battery replacement can only be done when out of warranty by apple costs £199 (battery and apple labour) this is based on my m1 air model. Maybe £29-59 extra for bigger battery models .

This is an indication how apple runs unethical business practices. I was fuming to say the least to find this out for a £879 MacBook . Nearly 25% of the price !!!!! I upgraded from MacBook mid2012 unibody , and that costed me about £20 because I could strip the unit by myself and just replace the battery . Watch these companies carefully . 1 year warranty’s? Apple care? Added subscriptions? And the list goes on 🤝thanks for playing

You needed a battery replacing? Man, if my M1's battery goes I'm going to call 'em out using the sale of goods act or anything else I can think of.

Thanks OP, went for the 16” Max on 0%. Gotta get rid of my 5950X/3080 system now to help fund it (edited)
