Best Star Wars movie IMO

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars stand-alone films, 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,' an epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

This is a strange film. It starts off almost TV-like. Even the credits are basic. Its a bit slow to say the least.

But then it gets going...and by the middle of the film its great and it carries on that way.

Its a bit of a frankensteins monster of a movie. gareth edwards was almost finished filming when the Disney execs hired Tony Gilroy to take over production and direction and reshoot entire sequences. Much like what happened with Dredd and Alex Garland.

Just to note this has been touted as a high calibre HDR master. The problem with HDR is TVs with low peak brightness tend to let down the viewer.

Currently streaming on Disney+ for those subscribed.

Correct but I would say 4K streaming is not the same quality as playing 4K from a BluRay.

Hot simply because it's the best Star Wars movie

better than Empire Strikes Back? It's good but not Empire good, Empire being perhaps the best film ever made

I remember not thinking much of this when I saw it at the cinema but liking it a lot more on a subsequent re-watch a few years later.

Especially compared to the subsequent trash

not really got in to the later stuff.

only seen half of the 1st Daisy Ridley one and just couldn't get in to it, need to revisit it.

this is the only other one iv'e watched and seriously enjoyed it. are there any others in the new batch that are as good? or even just worth a watch?

iv'e seen so many bad comments and rather few positive.

The film is overrated, it's certainly the best Star Wars Disney has done so far, but that doesn't say too much, as everything else has been awful. It is overall good but has some rather boring parts, mainly in the first half.
