Stay warm and cosy in the Icarus Jacket, which is a classic mid-weight insulated micro baffle hooded jacket filled with PrimaLoft Thermaplume.
Utilising a Pertex Quantum Eco 50% recycled outer with a DWR lining, the Icarus Jacket from Montane has water-resistant layering that keeps you dry during light showers. Primaloft Thermoplume also features an insulant, giving you the warmth you need during your colder adventures. Not only this but the PEAQ synthetic Eco lining is an exceptionally comfortable addition to the garment, which is supremely soft and luxurious next to your skin for all-around comfort.
The micro baffle construction ensures both; a great warm layer to keep you cosy, but also a stylish addition to your winter wardrobe.
The jacket has an integrated hood for protection against wind and rain and is also compatible with a helmet. A full-length YKK front zip, with an internal storm flap, stops windchill from entering the garment, however also prevents leakage into the garment.
A close fit collar provides you with an added layer of protection from wind or rain, and two zipped hand pockets allow you to store any essentials you wish to bring. In my opinion Montane do the best quality jackets in the market, super hot!I am not sure if they do quite the best quality jackets. However, I do think that they offer an excellent combination of price (at the usual 50% discount) and quality.
That is probably why I have over twenty Montane garments including baselayers, midlayers, jackets, gloves, hats and trousers.

20% off with student discount has just saved £86 on the new Garmin 265s. I was going to buy it with 10% off.- Received mine. Not blown away by the features or quality to be honest. The jacket arrived fully smudged so not ready to wear. For a jacket of this RRP I expect some microfleece linings in the pockets and collar area for comfort. No inside pockets. Hood is not adjustable. Such features are standard even on cheaper brands.
On the positive side, I ordered my usual size and it fits ok for now though a bit snug around the waist but that's me. (edited)
I'm not blown away either, it's got a weird smell. But I think that we are getting a lot of jacket for the money. The RRP might be off the mark though. 
I love this jacket. Very warm and comfortable. Great at this price. Montane do some fab jackets.

Tried this on in Go Outdoors. Definately size up. Only problem I found was that the arms were really long when sizing up. (edited)

Was looking at the Berghaus Vaskye, is this one a better buy?
I recently picked up this jacket after scouring many sites finally found it was cheapest here for me at the time Montane Men's Icarus Jacket - Outdoorkit at £78.94 with delivery (which was very fast) seems the medium is OOS now there though.
This is decent deal, coat is nice and nice fit... it's certainly not /super/ warm but a good day to day general jacket that looks pretty smart. Montane stuff is a good price/quality balance I think. (edited)- Lovely thanks, returned my Berghaus and bought this
Think I'm gonna do the same , can't live with the half puffer design in the Berghaus, the material down the sides is weird .

- Received mine last week, one in black and one in green, i already have similar Rab and Berghaus jackets and I'd say these match up, i personally don't like the great big padded or puffa type coats I'd sooner wear a fleece or thick sweater underneath if its particularly cold. These jackets aren't designed for walking up Mount Everest in or braving the worst weather our winter's have to offer.... You can wear them most of the year round, barring our 3 weeks of summer.
Was out in pretty wet weather the other day and it kept me dry although they are labelled as shower resistant not waterproof. For £75 you ain't exactly breaking the bank but you'll get a functional yet reasonably stylish coat that you can use for 9 months of the year. - Really nice jacket, levels above the berghaus in terms of quality imo
