Try this, 1 part rice, 2 parts water. Put rice in pan then add water, do not stir at any time. leave to simmer until "holes" start to appear in the rice and there is no visible water near the top. Turn off, put a lid on and leave for 15 mins.
    Perfect Rice !!

Have tried many ratios of rice: water: time & still get sticky rice. Latest in the Sistema Rice cooker is 700g rice: 430ml water: 15mins & this is well-washed rice for three helpings.

My wife uses a pyrex bowl in the microwave & always gets fluffy results.

Use less water, add a small amount of oil/butter and cook it for slightly longer and it shouldn't be too sticky.

Can't see what difference a pyrex bowl would make Vs plastic etc

Had this a few months now, from a deal on here for this price, and we love it! More or less fool proof and keeps the condensation down in the kitchen. We also do mashed potatoes & pasta in it and works great.

    Heat added.

Where would I find guidance to do the mash and pasta?

Just used it for the first time, 1 cup rice 2 cups water

After 8 minutes I poured a bit of water out as it wasn't evaporating/soaking in very much

7 minutes later the rice has absorbed the remaining water and was fluffy

I would say in future for wholegrain basmati easy cook (says 12-14 mins on the bag)

I will be doing 1 cup rice 1.5 cups water and I will aim for 13-14 mins 15 mins was a little too long, it had gone a tiny bit mushy

Still I couldn't be bothered to get a pan out so this was worth trying out,

I have a built in microwave that's too posh for its own good and it auto stops the microwave if it detects excess smoke/steam so it actually stopped the programme at 8 mins when I had come to check,

So that made this gadget slightly less practical but it did allow me to pour the water out, maybe too much water = excess steam ?

9/10 from me anyway for the gadget (edited)

This has been Amazon's 'normal' price for years.

I was fortunate enough to pick this up last summer when the bundle including the round container was available from Amazon for just £6.36. Definitely one of my better purchases.

I have only used mine for pasta and rice but I know other people have used it for other stuff. I don't think it makes the rice any better than the device I used to use (a multi cooker with a rice setting) but it is so easy to use and makes perfect rice every time.
