I've been with them for a while, can highly recommend them. I get 500 symmetric up and down. Let me know if you have any questions.

Only criticism I would make is that the mesh router they supply isn't amazing. I get about half speed if I use Wi-Fi one room away. But that could be because of congestion in the number of devices that connect to my Wi-Fi.

Also the router only has one ethernet port free to use for other devices which if you have a phone line would be taken up by that. You will want to connect your devices directly if you want to get the full 500 speed so you need to get a switch hub. Which are usually less than £15 on Amazon. (edited)

Make sure it’s broadcasting on 5 GHz find a clear frequency using a Wifi Analyzer ( lifewire.com/free-wifi-network-apps-3984721 ) list of here, check it’s not using 2GHz/5GHz or combo and not clashing, if so separate into Wifi Access points ie 2Slow 5Fast etc on a clear channel. 2GHz (or the junk band as your microwave cooks on that frequency) is very crowded and has restrictive bandwidth set in 13 slots which also over lap. Thought "selected postcodes" would suffice, or is this not good enough?

Make sure you formally request for the phone number to be ported, rang them today and they said i had to ask it isnt automatic. So thats starting today, so virgin media has been extended for another week for that. and the phone line needs to be active the whole time, of which u will be charged for that pleasure, takes 12 working days.

Internet dropping out on the day of the installation, net day dropping out again even on the hard wired xbox, and giving me 3% of the expected speeds, but getting 400mbs over wifi.

Rang them up, he told me to install the linksys app, and send me screenshots of the speed tests. App couldnt even find my router, even though i was connected to their router, and then the phone cut out.

Rang them again, turns out i have low power somewhere which is why i am not getting the speeds i am getting and why it is dropping out. and they will need to send an engineer around again to figure it out, next appointment is next week,

So pretty dodgy first week i guess. good thing virgin are still up and running i guess

Not a great start, oh and the topcashback i am not getting either as i wasnt logged in when i did the purchase, contacted them both times they said they can see it. but not got high hopes for that. (edited)

Yep same here - can't wait for them to come to my area to give Virgin some competition as all other providers can only give me 60meg max.

Ah thanks op, I've been rolling monthly for past few months on their 1GB plan, been waiting for something like this and 500meg is just that sweet spot for speed and this price was too good to say no to.

If it's in your area, go for it and never look back!

Does anyone have a direct contact, do they give better deals directly? We had the "local manager" (hahah, nice try sales guy) coming back and leaving their email, but I appear to have thrown that away.

Anyone use their calls service with the broadband? How is it compared to a normal landline?
    ibzzzz's avatar

I had virgin media and there had always been crackling noises in the background. I use a hella old landline phone so expected it to be the same however, on community fibre it’s amazingly clear, considering I had no expectations.

Apparently, you just call em after 1-2 months and prompt them to send it.
