it seems to me camera equipment doesnt lose its value. Canon 6d II still as expensive, if not more than release. So is nearly every camera line up.

Wish i hadnt sold my gear, not that i want to profit from it, i just want to be able to afford to use it again.

Film gear especially - I bought a couple of Hasselblads, a Rolleiflex, a Leica Minilux, a Pentax 6x7, a Mamiya and a load of 35mm SLRs between 2013-15 for a couple of hundred quid tops on any of them - now they're worth many times that because of Youtubers shilling certain 'cult cameras'. The Minilux is now dead with an E02 error after countless rolls and adventures - but it's now worth about twice as much as what I paid for it while it was working. Lovely paperweight!

Just a word to the wise, google K70 aperture block failure. It seems a thing with this model . Not sure if its been rectified but it became the case of a class action against Ricoh/Pentax. Its a great price and I was a Pentax user for a number of years. But information is all.

Ahh the dreaded green solenoid that caused problems for the previous cameras K-30, K-50, K-S1, K-S2 and K-70.
Ricoh introduced a 3rd generation solenoid back in Jan 21 so supposedly all cameras manufactured after that date will be fine.

Had the solenoid issue too, got it repaired under warranty, it came back and after 8 months it went again just outside of the warranty window, Pentax would not budge so now I have it in a drawer somewhere with an old lens attached to it. Good thing it's somewhat dust proof.

I hear you, they kept replacing green with green......same solenoid, same problem.

Ever thought about repairing it ? There's a very good guide on Pentax forums by a member called Photogem, it only takes about 20 mins, of course it involves a bit of disassembly and soldering of 2 wires.......then you have to find an oem white solenoid......thats where ebay comes in (edited)

Heat for posting a Pentax deal in this day and age. My first camera was a Pentax K1000 that I bought with an Art college materials grant from Fox Talbot on the Strand back in 1982, think it was £79 including a 50mm F2, loved it.

A little old at this stage but a brilliant camera. A k mount lenses can be picked up so cheaply too.
This is a photographers camera with IBIS. Not really for Sports or Video but it can do them.

I suppose it's a good buy compared to the KF which is basically a K-70 with some new parts inside but at £849 that isn't cheap.

Back to £499 again, don't know for how long.
Also £499 at Clifton, Wex and Park cameras

I have had 2 pentax dslrs and both had the solenoid issue! Apart from that, great cameras

Great camera, but won't last much longer than the guaranteed 1 or 2 years. I had a solenoid issue too. Avoid all pentax cameras until they confirm the issue has been resolved and guarantee that it wont happen again.

It's only certain models that have the issue, but that seems to have been all of the "entry" models for want of a better term since Ricoh went with the green solenoid........of no consolation but, I've had my K3ii since new in 2016 and have had no problems.

Why is this dinosaur so expensive? It was £199 back in 2018!
