    This, in the current market, is way too expensive. There are people who look at launch price (big mistake) and those that look at current market conditions. However, AMD knows the 5900X is a pseudo-specialist chip that sells to a small ill-informed customer base, and therefore tries to artificially inflate its price.

    The 8-core sells for a fraction of this price. The 16-core is the SERIOUS semi-pro variant. The 12-core is, and always has been, the 'chancer' part hoping to hook the naive. And the wonderful 8-core Vcache part sells for less, and will maintain its value infinitely better.
