I've got the ryzen 5800h rtx 3070 version of this laptop and paid just over £1000 12 months ago so not sure this is a deal! It's a powerful laptop no doubt but max battery life is about 2 hours, it weighs a ton and is pretty hot and noisy when pushing it hard. You can only put it in full performance mode when it's plugged in.

If I had the option again I would have bought something a bit more lightweight but I have no issues with the laptop in itself, it's well built. Lenovo aren't much help when you smash your screen, I think they wanted over £400 to fix it but thankfully you can pick the screens up for less than £100 on ebay.

Battery life is an irelevant metric when looking at gaming laptops. As is noise, heat, and performance.

If you were expecting something else, then unfortunately you've been misinformed by someone.

Also not sure how you smashed your screen. If you're moving it around a lot, then a gaming laptop was never really a good option. There are 14" "lightweight" gaming laptops, sure, but you again will not be getting anything close to reasonable for battery life.

Gaming on battery power is also a well known nono for gaming laptops.

Honestly sounds like you should have bought a Steam Deck.

    Great laptop. Especially the screen

Nice screen and good price 👌🏻 my Acer Nitro has 17" QHD screen and same specs and I paid the same price for it, it works great. I wonder if the £200 difference for RTX 3070 is worth it. (edited)

I'd say yes, largely for the extra 2GB of VRAM, which will come in very handy in years to come.

Old though. Not a bad price I guess despite the 11th gen cpu

cpu makes very little difference in gaming. especially if price is an issue. otherwise buy a more expensive laptop

Nice laptop but needs at least a 3070 for that screen really

Bought this, the left fan was grinding out of the box unfortunately and there was an unusually high pitched whine when the fans were enabled, irrespective of their speed (so mostly noticeable at lower RPM), so already had to return it! Could have replaced, but ended up going with the legion 5 from John Lewis, even if i'm leaving out that display. Perhaps to do with the fact that this laptop was specificially manufactured over 1 year ago (14th March 2022), and so the fan bearings have worn over time.

I have the AMD version of this for the last 18 months and the problem is that the powerbank / transformer is massive and weighs about 1.5kg. It is really like 20cm long x 15cm wide. It is a brick.

Off mains power it is a poor performer, as are most really.

I didn't buy for games, I bought for the 16" taller screen which is fantastic but the trade off is pretty considerable. Probably too much if I am honest.

Then you bought the wrong laptop for what you needed. The power brick is needed to power the gpu when flat out gaming. Any laptop with a dedicated gpu is going to have a large power supply and poor battery life.

This is a great deal as is the 3070 version for £1100. I've got the Ryzen 7 3070 2k screen version with 3tb storage and 64gb ram and it's a beast and prefer gaming on it than my xbox series x. (edited)
