Bear in mind..recent nissan qashqai's are not UK built cars.. they are french i think.. plenty of MOT failures for CO emissions, even on new cars, as emissions are 19 times higher than permitted. Very expensive thing to repair. I found it the hard way. Never buying any Nissan car again.

The Sunderland-built Nissan Qashqai was the UK's best selling car in 2022, official figures show.

Data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT) shows 42,704 of the 'crossover' model were sold to UK motorists last year - the first time a British-made car has topped the list since 1998. And to mark the occasion the automotive giant created a special gold-wrapped Qashqai which rolled off the production line in Sunderland.

While built in the North East, the Qashqai is designed in Nissan's Paddington base and engineered at Cranfield. Last year alone more than 157,600 were produced at Sunderland, including the newest, third generation Qashqai that features Nissan’s e-POWER technology.

Nissan are in partnership with Renault, they are not as reliable as they used to be, I had a Primera, it was one fault after another, had to get shut of it in the end

The new one looks good in the flesh IMO. Which magazine say it's currently Britain's most reliable new car and they seem to have sorted the issues the old car had (mainly to do with the battery).

You know you are old when your first car had a larger engine than this! Yes efficiency improved but 1.3L in an SUV my first tin can had a 1.4 and considerably lighter

I bet your old first car was nowhere near 160bhp on a 1.3l engine.

Do not buy a Qashqai ! I’ve got the previous model n-connecta which is one level up from Acenta Prem.

Problems with previous model, hopefully someone can confirm if they have sorted them out.

Front seat - Not the most comfortable and lack of electrics. All manual and lever adjustments. Not ideal for tall people especially for long journeys.

Android or IOS car play - not on the previous model, do check if it’s on the acenta prem model.

Rear leg room - not much space once front driver seat has been pushed all the way back.

Boot - Does not open with remote nor does it have a button at the front of the car.

    Apologies.

Maybe I am be naive. These all look like minor issues.

If I had to spend large amount of money for repairs, such as 5K for engine repairs etc.

I would not touch this with a barge pole.

I may be missing a point. Thanks

The only problem with this is you are paying new-car-discount.com before they will deliver the car , a few issues with this etc…what if they don’t pass the money on to the dealer. With the likes of drivethedeal.com you deal direct with a dealer , sign papers at a dealer & collect (if you want) from the dealer.

    Hi All,

I was considering a Qahqai as one of my neighbours is leasing one & it looks nice but recently had a couple of RAC guys round to deal with issues with my old car. I asked them if the Qashqai was a good buy & they shuddered - they warned me to stay away at all costs as apparently there are lots of problems with them & they said they get plenty of call outs on them - they said the Renault parts & especially the gearbox was a nightmare - basically just stay the hell away.

What I do not understand is if they are so bad then why are they seemingly selling in such high numbers? I asked my neighbour if she has had any major problems over the last couple of years & she said nothing major - quite a few annoying issues but nothing related to engine etc?

What is a good/great alternative at the same sort of market please - nothing high end!

    Many Thanks!

The new 2021+ model Qashqai or the last generation model with universally horrible reviews?

I imagine the poster has posted a good price compared to the normal price.

It's a nice car to drive, but most, if not all cars are overpriced at the moment, including this one.

My Aunty bought her house for £700, that was about 30/35 years ago - now people pay mortgage £700, and that's Per Month. (edited)

Looks like a poor value but configure Dacia Duster with 150bhp and auto, and it is not far off at £23k. May as well get Nissan in that case.

Absolutely would go for a Duster instead of one of these.

Sportage are crap , they have engine failures on them when new causing you having to replace the engine
