I like Yaris Cross, because I don't need big cars, but it is not a cheap car! When I was looking at it previously, I looked at the Excel grade because I like bells and whistles One thing very strange was that if you want the city pack (360 degrees camera, auto parking, etc.) you gonna receive a downgrade on the infotainment system, where the 9" new system with wireless carplay will be replaced by the old 8" Toyota Touch system. It feels like it would cost them too much to integrate the 360 camera to the new system?

On my 66 plate yaris the infotainment system is without a doubt the worst system I've used and I've used almost all the decent brands, lots of hire cars. I would hesitate to call it a touchscreen, its like having a 10 year old Alba tablet. I would certainly want to play about with the system before buying any Toyota from here on in

My neighbour has this model, so I see it everyday. For those thinking this will be suitable for a family (especially if you have kids pre growth spurt), then forget it. It's pretty compact and tight inside

Went to view the car and it's pretty small on the inside. I'm a little tall (6ft) and had issues fitting on the driver side unless the chair was all the way down.
My CHR doesn't give me that much hassle at all. Also the engine is fixed at that 1.5

A little tall sounds like it should be an oxymoron.

I ended up getting a second hand 2 litre CHR

Toyota has been good for me in terms of reliability for many years so stuck with it.

I've had my Avensis Petrol for 12 years now, and only had one problem which needed fixing when the air con developed a leak and needed a replacement pipe. All other brands I have tried have needed at least one thing fixing within a couple of years.

    7 sec 0 to 60 that’s bs
    M777TTN's avatar
    It’s 11.2 secs I just checked

Got my eyes on the 4x4 spec model, hmm very expensive

4x4 on this drivetrain is pointless. Save your money.

I've always liked Japanese cars. In the past I've owned a Honda, two Toyotas, a Daihatsu & now drive a Suzuki. They've all served me well.

That said, over the last decade Japanese cars have shifted from being value champions to being ludicrously over-priced. I fully expect my next car to be Chinese. You can buy a decently specced BYD Seagull EV for less than £10k in China. When the Chinese automotive invasion happens (& it's coming) I will be first in the queue with my wallet open.

When do you think that will happen? I'm also holding it for EV prices to drop

The Honda Jazz Crosstar is the nicer car to live with as the interior is much better than this Yaris, that's one of the weak points of this car. Economy and everything else is very decent though. Honda Jazz probably costs more as Honda has gone for outrageous pricing especially with the new Civic (which is a great car but far too expensive, and the Type-R is ludicrous money). (edited)

£24,000 near and still Halogen headlights?
    paulde2007's avatar
Agree. It felt smaller than my wife's fiesta

To me it was a yards on a taller platform. Not worth 24k

I presume it's 'cross' because the fellas at Toyota tried to turn it in an awful SUV, and thus ruined it.

I almost bought it, my credit card got rejected, turn out I don't have enough money..... So went to car boot sale and bought me self a pedal bike for tenner. Happy days..... Now don't quote me, saying cool story bro. Cuz that's my phrase.

Pretty sure Icon has the base smaller plain wheels not the ones in the photo.

We went with this over the CHR as the boot suited us better.
(Though I do prefer the chr)

Manages our two sons and trips away ok. At the time this price and below there was not much choice for automatic and decent actually economy ! Not sure how hot this is.... A spec lower than ours but more expensive. Everything has gone up I guess.

When would one of these be delivered?

Had a Corolla CVT a number of years ago and didn't like the CVT box , has it improved any.
    Manbatius's avatar
This put me off when researching initially. But in particular the newer vehicles don't hold the revs like the older cvt boxes did.

Some of the reviews point this out. But you'd feel it on a test drive.

What are leasers doing now , i haven't seen a lease deal for ages on here and im just wondering what people on doing at the end of their term. Just paying the higher lease or buying new or secondhand etc. Just interested to know
    fishmaster's avatar
My brother downgraded from a Mercedes to a 1.5 litre Cupra, he could only get a Cupra for the same money per month, due to the higher costs of leasing. You do what you have to do, it's a first world problem of course so none of us should be crying about it, not saying you are or my brother was.

People adapt so if you can pay more and want a particular car then you pay more or you change your options. Many people also don't want to be locked in to higher monthly payments when their less than 1% mortgage ends and they're on 6% because the killer monthly costs have already arrived and many people have months or days left before the massive monthly outgoings increase arrives.

Is this to buy car out right? I'm looking at Yaris cross and wondering if it's worth it or not thanks in advance

Slow, sluggish Toyota with naff efficiency.

So glad Toyota have a new ceo and moving away from this hybrid bs. I'm guessing this is a "self charging hybrid" what a con
