sorted byGoogle Wifi is a 2×2 802.11ac AP with a quad-core Qualcomm IPQ4019 SoC, 512 MB RAM, and 4 GB eMMC storage. Its stock firmware is based on ChromeOS, including a bootloader based on Coreboot and Depthcharge, and can be convinced to run non-Google-signed software (such as OpenWrt) by entering Developer Mode.
LOve OpenWrt (edited)
Which annoyed me so much as sometimes it'd drop to 2.4 from 5 and then the speeds drastically reduced, as a result I sold it.
Otherwise a very good router
I am looking for a new Mesh Wi-Fi system (preferably Wi-Fi 6 upwards). I do have Tenda Nova MW6 currently, coverage is good, however Wi-Fi speeds are really poor (15-20 mbps). I am assuming these google ones are not Wi-Fi 6. Are they better than Tenda Nova MW6?
Make sure you have the 5ghz channel enabled and your device should be connected to that if it supports.
15-20 is most likely due to the 2.4 GHz network. Separate them if that is needed to make sure you are on 5 GHz. (edited)
