    To the expert:
Does a Blu label purchased over 30 years ago and still unopened in his original box have any increased financial value? Thanks

It would have cost a fraction of the current price back then so it will certainly have "increased financial value". I'd expect it to sell for more than the £120 of this deal. Here's an auction listing for a 1990s bottling from 2 years ago: whisky.auction/auc…bel

Whisky prices have gone up from then so you may get more. Key questions are:
    1) Do you have proof of age? Real experts can age it through the barcode, ABV, details in the packaging, etc.
    2) What is the fill level of the bottle?
    3) What is the condition of bottle and packaging?

I'd rather pay £120 for a 30 year old bottling than the latest one for sure. A lot of whisky has gone down in quality over the years. The quality of the spirit that comes out of the stills is exactly the same. They can increase the volume of that spirit production to meet increased demand without reducing quality but what a lot of distilleries haven't managed to also do is maintain the same quality of casks to mature that spirit into whisky.

Easy to criticise anyone wanting to buy this but it's a purely brand led decision. For everyone else wanting better blends there's Thompson Bros or Macleans Nose, both available at a fraction of the price.

Always amazes me the comments you get on items like this. It's a premium whiskey so will cost more than a bottle of Famous Grouse. Those commenting probably don't mind paying £3.50 for a shot of Teachers down the Spoons on a Friday night, valueing the bottle at well over £100

Nah it’s just that this is not worth £120. £120 could get you two outstanding bottles of whisky.

Unusual to have an unhelpful comment

Bought 4 (4 litre) bottles of single Malt at duty free yesterday at same price- People should take note that this is premium but still blended! (edited)

There are bad single malts and there are great blends. Nothing wrong with either; it is ultimately about personal tastes. But looking down at a blend is just silly.

I love single malts and will go out on a limb here:

JWB is not a bad whisky at all and well worth paying £120 for

I agree. I think Green is much better value though.

As we are on the HUKD site it's fair to say this is a good price. But I'd rather spend the money on two bottles of Ardbeg and savour the flavour.

If you like it or not, it's a good deal

Seems a good deal, other whisky has shot up in price making this a bit more rather than a lot more.

I'm usually buying malt as a gift and recipients are not "experts" so this deal and similar are always welcome

If both you and the recipients are not experts, then maybe whisky isn’t the right gift.

    Tempting deal! Great price.

Is anyone else seeing it at £124.89 = £104.07 + VAT?

How is this compared to the £20 JW Black?
If my budget is £20 what would you recommend instead of JW Black?

Stretch to JW Green at 35gbp = best bang for buck in the JW range
