Not sure this next gen device is backward compatible with it I'm afraid.

You can mod these pretty easily too. If you slice off the front and remove the lens, it almost feels like you are in the real world (I say "almost", main issue is most of the NPCs in the game world give you funny looks)

I bet the "Town Guards" also carry a yellow device that isn't "in character" too :-)

even if you wanted this for some basic sbs video a lot of the old android vr games don't work now. Also phone size is a little bit of a problem a lot of newer phones wont fit in those old headsets.

Yeah, that's the problem - modern phones are just too big. Not just for older slot-in VR headsets, but for a lot of phone cases, pockets, etc too.

I’d wait until Tuesday before buying!

Apple is rumoured to launch their $3000 AR/VR headset and will probably have better specs
    31220's avatar
Yep at a minimum the prices should drop a bit.

Fact stranger than fiction. I have just been reading about vr headsets to try vr on my dji drone via litchi app. I even tried a vr headset I thought I had but wasn't sure (a hukds buy = something I thought I needed at the time but didn't).

What so the "fact" is, you've been reading about VR headsets?

I thought you were going to furnish us all with some juicy morsel about them.

Remember, the lower the screen resolution of your phone, the better this will work due to the way the lens in this HMD project the magnificationisum effect. lol

Wow! Never knew this. Dont know as much as you but im guessing it must be some kind of upscaling lens which boosts the light spectrum using an ultra high frequency active prism. Only problem is these systems can be hard to calibrate as I had a go dismantling an old pair of binoculars to clean the inside. So complicated! When I put them back together they were completely misaligned. Can't see anything now. Real shame.

Does this premium model have the 4K per eye OLED screens with 150 degrees fov?. WiFi 6e? Premium headstrap?

Asking for a friend.....is this better than the Apple VR offering
    adam.yacub's avatar
Yes, you can buy a thousand of these, sell them for £5 each, that's 2 thousand profit on top of the apple VR when they release.

These things are very bad and I don't recommend anyone wasting their time or money on them. The technology is dependent on the phones you put in them and mediocre phones will yield bad results.

The screen resolution should be 1440p or above. Bigger phones will likely not fit. The controls vary between each app. The 3D effect is not very effective. Worst of all, the gyro drift is something that is a major problem and can't be fixed. I bought something similar for a few quid in a thrift store a few years back and still consider that money wasted.
    Glasshalfsmashed58's avatar
I don't think many people are seriously considering buying one.
