Are these just remasters of the remasters?
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
They're just ports, not even remasters. Lazy cash-grabs and not worth £50. Wait for a price drop.
  2. Captain_Le_Chuck's avatar
are the original remasters backwards compatible on SX?
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
Yes, you're better off picking that set up on disc for cheaper. You can't but the originals digitally anymore.
  3. italkapple's avatar
Thank god I own my my physical copy I bought for £2. Also digital on Xbox Series X. I won’t buy this!
If 4+5 are ports too. Thank god I also own them on PS3 / XSX.

    I hate cash grabs. (edited)
    thelonesoldier's avatar
And will that upscale on a Series X to 4K/60fps?
  4. adamguest1985's avatar
These are some of my absolute favourite games of all time, but I've paid £50 for them individually, and as a collection, on multiple occasions already. This is a ludicrous price for just straight ports, again. Cheeky buggers!
  5. victor.nk's avatar
Another cashgrab from the Kojima-less, shameless Konami.
  6. Eggface5's avatar
£50 for Ports of 3 PS1 and PS2 games. Why is this even on HotUKDeals??
    Bully-Maguire's avatar
This isn't HUKD anymore, that's long gone. Clicks > quality.
  7. Blender's avatar
I will purchase as a life long MGS fan, but not at this price. £25/30 I'll bite.
    adamguest1985's avatar
I want them on switch but don't know that they'll ever drop
  8. mango.carrot's avatar
There’s a lot of nostalgia voting happening here. This is a disgusting price for lazy ports
    IFRIT's avatar
No it's doing what this website is intended for. Voting up of the cheapest deal, just as it should.
  9. jamie19916's avatar
14p less than RRP; i'm sure we'll see at least £45 before launch. No point preordering at this price; as you won't pay any more than this even if you wait until release. (edited)
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
No, this is the RRP. Retailers are artificially inflating it because they know fans want this badly. It's £49.99 digitally, so that should be the RRP. This should really be £44.99 as a maximum but in terms of actual value, its closer to £25 max.
  10. HairyFist's avatar
This is a ridiculously high price for games that aren’t even being remastered, just ports of the 360 versions and a the first game which I’m sure has aged horribly.
    haggardmchaggard's avatar
And the war footage from 3 missing too!
  11. Teapot_Disaster's avatar
I’m glad emulators exist on PC. It’s possible to play tens of thousands of games from all different generations with graphical improvements (resolution, screen space shaders, etc) without having to pay £50 for games almost twenty years old.
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
Yup, this is precisely why I have a Series S for emulation purposes.
  12. Hazzsta's avatar
Cold. These are untouched rereleases of the digital licences Konami pulled from the game stores a while back. They will do it again, rendering this useless, just so they can "vault" them up and release them for another cash grab on next console gen. Konami is not a video games company any more. They only care about treating consumers like coin dispensers.
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
Agreed, but given modern consoles are now finally starting to respect gaming history, they'll find it hard to release it yet again when games are backwards compatible.

Only a true 4K set with proper remastering work done would ever convince me to shell out for these games again.
  13. AverageMuggle's avatar
    My Minds telling me noooooo.

But my inner child, my inner child is teellliing mee yeessssss
  14. DevilsNeverCry's avatar
    £55

    Dear me, what a joke.
  15. carlhoughton10's avatar
I paid less for the Legacy Edition when it came out on PS3, and that came with 4, Peace Walker, Metal Gear 1 and 2, and the digital novel.

    This is an absolute rip-off.
  16. ayerz4291's avatar
So was the reason they took MGS 2 and 3 off PS Now owing to some of the rights to the historical videos lapsing (have I got that right?) legit, or was it just to pre-empt charging people £50 for this shameless cashgrab?
    deleted2679383's avatar
It seems everyone has given Konami a pass on this but yeah... "We've had to take the existing £11 collection off the store due to licencing issues, it's absolutely nothing to do with the fact that we are releasing the same collection for £55."
  17. Sorceress1988's avatar
For everything collected, this is worth £50.

But i got it for £20 via my turkish account.
  18. Herniol's avatar
I have the Legacy Collection for my PS3 so skipping this shameless cash grab. Konami is dead.
  19. Puddlehopper's avatar
Should of remastered MGS 1 , heck even just port GameCube twin snakes
  20. carddealer's avatar
This is the type of thing I would buy if it was £20, then I would install it, check it worked, exit the game and never play it again.
    PeteParC's avatar
What? Then why buy it in the first. Surely you got something wrong with you. Lmao
  21. Serpico73's avatar
Let's be honest great games in their time but who is going to go back and play these. MGS was the pinnacle with a slow decline thereafter, albeit with MG4 being the better of the later entries. Played to death back in the day just can't see me having the time to replay any of these again.
    carddealer's avatar
yep, not enough time in the world to be playing games from that era!
  22. TTimms's avatar
I was going to buy this day one but not at this price! I'll wait.
  23. misterjoint's avatar
Wow, that price is shocking for 3 old ports (not remakes). I will wait for MGS3 Delta, which will likely be around the same price and give these a miss. Konai are having a laugh, this should be £35 tops.
  24. Orange_Sooty's avatar
It’s mainly for pc gamers tbh
although mgs2 on pc with a few mods look better than the console version

so only mgs 3 for me as a purchase on pc
  25. andypearce543's avatar
I'll buy them because I'm an idiot. But it's my childhood. They could have at least bothered to improve them a bit though. I'll get them when they're inevitably on game collection with the £10 in points
  26. ADIDASADDICT's avatar
Too expensive for old cheap ps2 Ps1 games
  27. TonboKiri's avatar
I'm a big fan of these games, but there's no way they're worth £50. Surprised this is even getting upvoted.
  28. Dantess's avatar
Any news yet on if they've added trophies for MGS1?
    ayerz4291's avatar
That's a good point. Surely they must have done.
  29. Borntooslow's avatar
As much as I love these games. MGS2 and MGS3 are the same versions we got back on PS3/360 in the Legacy Collection with Peace Walker.

I think £50 is a rough price for this collection, but there's no other way to get them all. I have the Legacy Collection on BC on Xbox

I will say, MGS2 has not aged well.

I have more hope for Vol 2 with MGS4, I doubt we'll ever get Twin Snakes again
    Teapot_Disaster's avatar
I highly doubt a working port of MGS4 will ever be released. If you know something I don’t, then tell me, ‘cause keeping it trapped as a PS3 exclusive is a crime. But that architecture was just too complicated for developers to port.
  30. Ballard's avatar
Will wait until it’s a tenner
  31. LunaKatana's avatar
You know what really sucks, the MGS2/MGS3 HD Remasters were quite cheap on Xbox store and then last year they flat out removed them from the store, so you can't buy them anymore.

Obviously we know why now, so they could squeeze people for £50 for the exact same games.

I'll get this on PS5 I think in a years time when it's inevitable on sale for much less.
  32. 777jrg_'s avatar
I have these on my vita (bar mgs1). Does anyone know if they are the same or have had any sort of enhancement? Sorry but I am not aware of anything related to this release
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
These will be better than the Vita release, at least MGS2 and 3 will. 720p resolutions and 60fps for both.
  33. matombler1's avatar
lol what a terrible price (no offence OP). Let's not kid ourselves: we had this on Xbox 360 and Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 (especially 2!) controlled terribly ten years ago. The only thing worth money on this is MGS3 but I'd sooner hold out for the remake.
    scorpionsean's avatar
As a long term mgs fan. I agree
  34. chazzyafro's avatar
What! I thought would be remasters and not just a port, I can just get my PS2 out for free
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
MGS2 and 3 are better than the PS2 versions as they're 720p/60fps and wide-screen. Plus you can edit the controls on modern consoles to make them more playable if you're a younger gamer that isn't familiar with how games controlled back then.
  35. KORNdoggy's avatar
I would maybe...MAYBE buy this for a tenner...but this is a huge rip off lol.
  36. DJ.Mole's avatar
I dont understand mgs1 is still pixelated why would you need this on a ps5?
  37. PeteParC's avatar
I'll wait for Vol 2 to come out and the buy them both as a bundle. Vol 2 better include MGS peace walker and MGS4. A port of MGS twin snakes from gamecube would be fabulous too. But unlikely to happen sadly.
  38. Royvedas's avatar
I know it is three games, but come on, what's up with that price?. These games are old and will basically just be upscales. On the other hand the value quality-wise is probably much higher than most modern trash. I got them on other formats and will probably never play them again anyway. (edited)
  39. TALON1973's avatar
I’ve still to the original remasters from 360 . Been in my cupboard for years. I occasionally stick mgs2 in my series x just to playing the opening title sequence
  40. InglouriousBasterd's avatar
I already own 360 trillogy on 2 discs - is there any reason to buy this instead?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the only reason why these were removed from XBOX store is licensing issues (music, intros, etc.) - I assume they only "fixed" those parts, or am I missing something?
