Tidal Price to Quadruple from August

.. unless I've mis-read the email.

Up until now, the payments for the individual plan have been showing up as $145, which is around 45p

From August the 1st, they'll be rising to $570 which will be around £1.75

This is for the individual plan only but I suspect those on family plans will be getting similar emails soon.

My only worry when I saw a Spanish email from Tidal was that my Revolut payment method had been rejected, so I'm happy to pay this 284% increase, I guess it's people who live in Argentina that may not be able to afford it.

Are we really going to moan about a few pence increase when like me we could have been paying the normal UK price? (edited)

It's gets worse! We're receiving this in Aus. Game over for Argentina. vpncentral.com/tid…ry/

We would like to provide you with an important update regarding the acceptance of payment cards in light of recent changes in the handling of Argentine Peso (ARS) currency exchange by Visa and Mastercard. As a result of these changes, our payment processor will now only accept cards issued by Argentine banks for the foreseeable future. This includes both Visa and Mastercard.

Depending on your current country of residence, you have a few options available to you: If you currently live in Argentina and are using a VISA or MASTERCARD card that was not issued by an Argentine bank, please update your payment method to a card issued in Argentina. Failure to do so may lead to billing failure and, ultimately, the cancellation of your subscription.

If you have moved to a different country, you will need to create a new TIDAL account using a different username and register it in the new country where you currently reside. Once your new account is set up, we can assist you in transferring all your playlists and favorites. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the TIDAL Support team here.

Yeah it's fine I suppose. Obviously I'd have preferred it to stay at 45p but I get enough use out of it to justify the new price.

Four times the price in any instance is a bit extreme though.

Does make you wonder if they’re in trouble.

With all the mergers going on, I wouldn’t be totally shocked if Spotify bought them out just for the catalogue.

It is the Argentine Peso that is in trouble.

I don't know when they last adjusted the price, but I can at least see deals on here priced at $145 in 2021.

At the start of 2021 one US dollar would get you 84 Argentine Pesos.

Today it gets you 256 Pesos.

This is why they have quadrupled your Argentinian price.

Inflation is 114%. Yes, one hundred and fourteen.

The interest rate is 97%. Yes, ninety seven.

And people think we are in a bad shape... ha! Good one.
