Stay warm and cosy in the Icarus Jacket, which is a classic mid-weight insulated micro baffle hooded jacket filled with PrimaLoft Thermaplume.

Utilising a Pertex Quantum Eco 50% recycled outer with a DWR lining, the Icarus Jacket from Montane has water-resistant layering that keeps you dry during light showers. Primaloft Thermoplume also features an insulant, giving you the warmth you need during your colder adventures. Not only this but the PEAQ synthetic Eco lining is an exceptionally comfortable addition to the garment, which is supremely soft and luxurious next to your skin for all-around comfort. The micro baffle construction ensures both; a great warm layer to keep you cosy, but also a stylish addition to your winter wardrobe. The jacket has an integrated hood for protection against wind and rain and is also compatible with a helmet. A full-length YKK front zip, with an internal storm flap, stops windchill from entering the garment, however also prevents leakage into the garment. A close fit collar provides you with an added layer of protection from wind or rain, and two zipped hand pockets allow you to store any essentials you wish to bring. An adjustable hem with a cinchable drawcord allows you to make necessary changes to the fit, and articulated arms allow great freedom of movement.

    Is this fire retardant ?
    lazyfatboy's avatar
No. It's not shark repellent either.

Nice jacket till you wash it! I followed the instructions to the letter. Cleaned the washing machine first, washed it in specialist product and then tumbled dried it. The filling clumped and never went back to how it was. Credit to Montane though, they asked me to send it back to them and they offered me an alternative jacket without question

I had the same issue with a Rab Microlite alpine, googled what to do and found a video suggesting washing the jacket again but then straight to tumble dry with three tennis balls thrown in. It worked like a charm and I'd assume it would be the same for any puffer jacket.

Where do you enter the code?
    angleseylad's avatar
Just prior to entering your card details there’s a button that says “extras” and it gives a gift card or promotional code option.

Is there anyway to get free returns, like if the sizing wasn't right? As it seems like it would cost £3.99
    KennyBania's avatar
    No.

Just went to Go Outdoors and tried one on. I’m always a medium but large was a better fit and taking into consideration underlays or a jumper.

Will buy via here, when I mentioned a price match I got a bit of attitude.

is chest pocket big enough for a reasonable size smartphone please?
    rodwell's avatar
Depends on 'reasonable' but my pixel 5 fits fine and I think slightly bigger phones would too

Are returns free on this jacket,I've signed up for an account and ultra membership but can't seem to find out if returns are free
    quakerphil's avatar
Think you pay £3.99 for returns.

Tried the newer version of the jacket on today in Cotswolds. I’m usually a small but found the medium a better fit. Was unsure of the slate grey on the website but it looks really nice in the flesh.
    Thanks op!

    What's the sizing like?
    Stebrow's avatar
They are small, go a size up. I did anyway.
  11. deleted48909's avatar
A good jacket for a season or two, but Primaloft has dubious longevity.
    sufy123's avatar
    Which primaloft jacket has longevity?
  12. Martin_Hewitt's avatar
I tried these on in store before, I found them sized pretty small, Rab Microlight jacket, a xxl is a nice trying a Bergahaus Tephra a Xxl is a roomy, but in these coats, a xxl is too small, like skin tight.

I have the slate version - fantastic jacket well worth this excellent price
    sufy123's avatar
Is it waterproof and can it be used for cold weather and keeps you warm?
  19. Deadpool2's avatar
Bargain! Reviews say they come up slightly small. Should we go a size up?
    Paddy_o_furniture's avatar
I went up to a M, 5,7" slim build, usually wear S in everything.
Superb jacket and at this price!
  20. villan57's avatar
I'm now down to a 43" chest would that be a large in this brand ?
PS I'm still losing weight (edited)
    cheaperbythe12's avatar
L for you I think. I have this jacket and it;s brilliant. I'm 39-40'' and M is just right so think L should be fine for you. Sizing is accurate unlike other brands imo. Buy it - lovely jacket mate.

The website is getting a lot of traffic, but works OK via TCB. Good price. They're also available on Fleabay from Sportsshoes outlet for £74.99. Obs the code won't work.

Thanks, ordered (astro blue)...i did their sizing chart, based on age, weight, height...bizarrely said i should order 2XL..

Im medium in everything that i buy....I decided to buy a "large". Just hope it does not hang off me as im only 5 foot 10 inches.

Went via topcashback for the 5.1%

    This is an excellent review..

I’m a similar size and just tied one on in Go Outdoors and always have a medium. The large was a better fit and remembering you will probably have a couple of layers underneath as well.

Thankyou. Ordered 1 size up. Don't forget cashback 😁
    Bryzill's avatar
How can I claim cashback?? Never done it before :))

Mine just arrived - deal too good to pass up. I ordered XL as last available and took the chance, but far too small. To be fair that is what their size guide said, but other sites had me as XL. I am 6'3 and 95kg - zips were over an inch apart and not sure XXL would fit for this jacket. Shame because it looks great. (edited)
    extraj's avatar
Some weird sizing diffences going on, as I'm the same build as you (down to the kilo) and the XL is too big for me
  29. brenglo's avatar
Just had mine delivered perfect fit ,cheers Op
  30. deals4steals's avatar
Perfect op thank you - received mine just now and fits true to size. Cheers!
  31. marco806's avatar
Mine arrived today...I am medium in everything, ordered the large, the large fits almost perfect, just a tad baggy under the shoulders/armpits, but bar that, a perfect fit elsewhere.

Very nice garment, not really for folk with a fuller belly tbf...
    mosafdar's avatar
Agree about the belly comment. I’m a medium/large in tops depending on where from. I bought Large and it’s a great fit. Wouldn’t want the tight fit the medium would have given. The waist band can feel a bit tight so if you aren’t sure defo go up one size.. PS I don’t have a big belly lol I’m 6ft and 13.5st.

Anyone know the difference between the one advertise in the original post and the one advertised on the Montane website.

Montane Men's Icarus Lite Hooded Jacket – Montane - UK

The one on the Montane website doesn't have a chest pocket but has stretchy side panels. Is there anything else that maybe different?
    dan_dog's avatar
If you are climbing then you might need the additional articulation as these are designed to fit snug. Similarly if you are fell running the panel offers some ventilation.
The side panels version has no hood so is lighter and more compact.

Also 5.1% top cash back. Not sure if using the promotion code will qualify but worth a try.

    Are these better/equal to Rab??
    mattd555's avatar
Rab what? Rab is a brand
  35. cadmus's avatar
Ordered and cheers OP 😃 great price . My Quidco tracked in at £2.47 so making it £65 😁.
