I have a pair of these.. and love them.

Waterproof? Given the recent rain.. I have had no issues at all and I cycle in them.

I would not jump in puddles but, to be fair, I have had no issues at all.

    Instantly comfortable too !

... forgotten how much I love DM's (edited)

You cycle in doc martins? Do you hate your feet?

I've just received mine now and I was worried they would be big and clunky. I'm pleased to say they are really nice, just what I wanted. I'm going to get some fleecy insoles to go inside.

Before you do anything, measure the length of the laces and cut a spare set, for some reason mine always snap within the first month, especially going into winter when they'll be soggy.

DMs. Along with cockroaches they will likely still survive a nuclear holocaust. Even the pope used to wear a white pair. Timeless. A classic…

DMs are nothing but fashion boots. Not very good ones.

Heat! Bought these several years ago and can vouch for the comfort and durability. Highly rated

Stopped buying DMs when they started falling apart within two years. Not recommended if you're going to work them hard.

Ten per cent off isn’t working for me? Is there a minimum spend?

Discount codes don’t work on sale items

Got these for £55 when they went on offer at end of June.
Wearing them now, really comfortable and good looking boots.

An abomination in the eyes of an original docker owner....
If you don't hate them for a month, they ain't real dockers, you have to have scars before the pleasure is apparent.

You don't break Doc Martens in, they break you in

Lot of disparaging comments for the docs in comparison to solovair, and in one sense it's understandable. I am now up to 11 pairs of both Doc's and the solovair and I feel a misconception has been brought in without challenge, so I'll throw in my happeny worth. First of all I only only ever buy docs at a sale price, at least which stage it's obviously far more value for money. Indeed the relationship between docs and solovair is hugely symbiotic, just look at the comments in the solovair and I'd guess two thirds are from people who've come via the Doc's. Indeed docs are arguably solovairs biggest promotional tool just by looking at every single doc shoe offer in hukd alone! I also (apart from once) only get my solovair in sales. The one thing that docs do which I personally believe is very important: it stops people spending silly money on trainers/sneakers and that's surely always a good thing. The other thing docs have is a far superior choice, indeed some of my docs genuinely get me stopped as people comment on them. I used to work in catering and would 100% tell people NOT to wear solovair, wear smart docs. The reason is quite simple, the solovair have a wooden shank to support your arch, and a good 10/12 hour shift of getting on your haunches to stock up etc would basically break the shank. The docs you can kneel with no problems as they dont have shanks. One of my most talked about docs is a Tariq trainer/utility I wear on the gym. With it's unique style and especially the distinctive yellow stitching other gym goers love them and actually bought some too. The solovair overall is much higher quality, but always getting Doc's in the sales is also just as financially prudent. I've actually booked a tour of the solovair factory for early next year which is worth it if anyone is near Northampton. My ultimate favourite solovairs are boots with what they call 'rub off' colour which is a combination of black and burgundy and changes colours over time especially if you use black one day, burgundy the next( the only ones I paid full price for) As I said, keep an eye out for sales of both products, there's room for both in the market! Should I size up or down in these? I'm an 8.5 - general advice seems to be sizing down but not sure if that's just for the leather pairs. I tend to wear some thicc socks
    TheKrakken's avatar
I’m a 4.5 but always get a 5 as I wear thick socks. Even wearing thin socks the 5 is best for me tbh.

Had the size 11s in my basket for too long and now they're out of stock Could do with a new pair as my 5 year old pair have split on the soles now.
    CynicalNurse's avatar
Get the resoled if the uppers are any good. Unfortunately the uppers fell apart before the sole on my last two pairs.
