Christmas Dinner

Merry Christmas all

I usually do a thread earlier in the day for Christmas last couple years.

What's everyone cooked today? Eaten or going to eat?

I love food and I'm nosy put those two things together and that sums up this thread lol.

All the best

I'm looking forward to cold turkey, chips peas and onion rings. Fresh bread. Tomato sauce. We have it every year on boxing day. Best meal of the year.

    Today

    Turkey
    Roast potatoes and parsnips
    Swede and carrots and peas
    Broccoli
    Christmas pud and cream

    Question
Why was veg so cheap in supermarkets? 15p. Odd that when its way more all year around.

Where was the veg shortage? (edited)

Officially the reason is solely to entice shoppers inside.
Once we’re in their shops we wont just buy the vegetables, we’ll buy the cakes, the chocolates, the gifts and the booze too. We might even switch from our regular supermarket and do all our shopping with these different stores who ‘care about us’ at this expensive time of year.

We had a turkey crown and a piece of gammon along with selection of veg and home made thyme and parsley stuffing. Thoroughly enjoyed it because I didn’t have to cook it for the first time in 22 years

Oh yes sounds lovely. It's always better when someone else has done all the hard work lol I will enjoy one of those meals tomorrow at my grandmother's. What was for dessert?

I hadn't eaten yet at the time I posted, don't miss a trick do you mate...I know I eat late..😄😄 I was snacking in between (too many pigs in blankets) cooking so didn’t feel that hungry till 9pm. I had Basmati rice with Roasted veg, some jerk chicken, some fried cubed coriander potatoes I make, couple Yorkshires, pigs in blankets, Roasted carrots & Parsnips. And yourself kind sir. (edited)

Our ovens element decided to pack up on Xmas eve. We still managed a decent dinner thanks to a mother in law bringing a cooked Turkey, then we used top oven to cook roast potatoes, air fryer for stuffing, pigs in blankets and to finish off the potatoes as the top oven was taking ages! Then sprouts, carrots and yorkshire pud. Bit difficult with all the timings but it tasted good. Then choc log or mince pies with custard/cream for dessert.

I've twice had the cooker (different cookers) give an impromptu firework display and had to ship the whole half cooked Christmas dinner to the in-laws to finish cooking.
It is probably the only time in the year when every element and both ovens are on for an extended period.
We've gone back to gas. (edited)

Oh yes I also didn't manage a pic. Sounds delicious. Mash and Roasted Potatoes? You're living it large. I forgot to put the potatoes on to parboil then decided against roast potatoes all in all in the rush against the clock. Lol.

I'll have me a portion of baklava..You just reminded me I have lindor milk balls. Bought them on a whim on Xmas eve and forgot to unpack them.
I usually don't drink but I had some Rosé Champagne which was nice.

    Mixture of frozen and fresh:

(Aldi) Specially Selected Slow Cooked Gammon Shank With Treacle Glaze (sounds a bit weird, but it was gorgeous), Carrots, Sprouts, Mashed Potatoes.

M&S Raspberry & Mascarpone Meringue Roulade with Co-op Double Cream for dessert. (edited)

I came into this thread looking forward to seeing food porn and am feeling massively disappointed that there are no photos to accompany people’s descriptions
