Query regarding an online purchase

I'm after a bit of advice

I purchased a new yamaha RX-V6A av receiver from electric shop and it came with a set of free yamaha earbuds

I just received an email from DPD saying its due to be delivered today and i also received a call from the retailer saying its due to be delivered today and that the box to the receiver will most likely be open as they put the earbuds inside the box

Would you accept this as to me it should all be sealed and unopened. Why can't the brand new earbuds and brand new receiver come unopened and sealed

Or am I just being picky?

This is how it looked once opened
Invoice was inside the box with the box of earbuds

Once i removed that cover the receiver looked like this with no protective cover peel thing over the front part of the receiver on the display area part

For what it's worth I found several unboxing videos of it on YouTube and none of them had a peel off plastic on the front of the unit so maybe that particular clue is a red herring

Could well have been an excuse to hide selling an opened / returned product as brand new.

Ignore the view of just overthinking it.

It all comes down to whether you are happy with it

It is not an unreasonable request. However, are they shipping the receiver in another box? If yes, then the buds can be in that external box as well but if they are shipping the receiver in its original manufacturer box without any additional packaging, then the only way to ship both is to open the receiver box and put the buds inside. That being said, most of these things are tightly packed so I am not sure where there would be space for the buds.

I suggest you open the parcel in front of the DPD driver and check everything with your phone camera on. The driver is going to grumble though.

I don't think he'll grumble, I think he'll just take a photo of the op holding the parcel and then just turn around and drive off!

Just arrived.. It had another postage label on of another person's address so maybe been sent out previously and opened up.. My thought was maybe they need to put the earbuds somewhere and it makes sense to open the box to put them inside the receiver box

Anyway it all looks good and in good condition so no complaints

I think you were all too harsh on the OP - I would have felt the same!

Unless you bought it for resale then I think you are being picky & jumping the gun because you haven't had it delivered yet.

If there is no marks at all & it hasn't been used what difference does it make?

I wouldn't be happy. There is a reason that amazon, curry's, richer sounds etc sell items as open box.
Evidently used the phones as an excuse for the open box. You should be able to tell if the unit has been unwrapped before though..

I'll post a picture of how it arrived and you give me your opinion. All seems ok to me but it didn't have anything that i had to peel off the receiver. The phone call is what made me a little suspicious with it all

Wouldn't be happy with a previous customers address on the box. Ask for a discount as it should have been sold as open box.

Maybe the address is something to do with the company after looking into it more because it's got TVA technology ltd on the address label and i just noticed that TVA technology is on the top of the invoice

I think you're over thinking it.

It makes sense to me that they'd open the box to put the earphones in, rather than spend an extra few quid on shipping an extra box etc.

Doesn't look to me like it's been out of the box.
