Not too rock the boat about buying foreign but….

There are freight forwarders in the far east that claim to have a VAT free service when you use their service. Given how high the caps can be (sometimes £500 in each shipment), I was wondering how they do it and why HMRC is not knocking their door?

I expect it's 'VAT free' until you get caught. (edited)

There’s more to such practice than mere sneaking in foreign purchases.

by the look of it the freight forwarders use b2b airfreight shipping to bulk ship to a business address in the UK, then distribute the goods domestically via Royal Mail. So if there is any VAT it will be billed to their business address instead. (edited)
