I got these last time and am happy with them. For anyone having trouble, try waiting until night time and then holding down the button for a few seconds (given they've been out in the daylight for a day) - worked for me when they didn't turn on at first. Overall, I'd recommend them for this price and will likely pick up some more.

Have a look at techmar 12v low voltage lighting. Honestly these solar powered garden lights are pointless.

i have an outdoor socket which was installed when the house was built last year. I think it's connected directly to the downstairs wiring as the fuse box hasn't got fuse specifically for this socket. If I plug in low voltage lighting, don't I need to protect the circuit with a RCD? I can't do this because the RCD won't fit in the socket because of the cover.

Pretty much I think it was just leave it in the sunlight to charge for a couple of days. Then, when it's dark hold the button to turn them on.

First mode when you turn on is motion on/no motion off. press the button again to switch to motion on bright/no motion on dim. And again for permanent on.

I bought some of the generic solar lights a couple of years ago and wish I'd bought more! I have them set as security lights at the back of the house so I can walk round there without a torch if I'm going to the shed or recycling bins.

I'm sure if you have them set to run all night, they'd soon die but for my usage (touch wood) they've been great!
