Turkey VPN is required to activate code, but works on a UK account as normal thereafter. You do not need to use a VPN to buy the code, only to redeem.
This will work for both new and existing subscribers, but if you are looking to try GPU for the first time, I'd highly recommend picking up a cheap Xbox Live 12 month code and using the conversion trick

sorted by-Go onto CDkeys and purchase a code or as many as you want.
-Get the codes in your email
-Turn on the VPN now
-Go to redeem.microsoft.com (make sure you're signed into your account)
-Type in the code and redeem
-Repeat if you've got more than one code (edited)
I don't have a Series S or X and my gaming PC isn't assembled atm but I can use XCloud from my Firestick, iPad or work Macbook and play a ton of AAA games day one using this subscription.
Compare that with Sony who are trying to sell a stripped down version of a game they released in 2013 for 70 quid and don't even offer a discount at their highest subscription tier and it really is no comparison. (edited)

Microsoft will give a reasonable timeframe if things change. If the rewards program finished but it's very unlikely at the moment imo

Thats 50p * 12. I wasted £6 or almost another 3 months code for not waiting a couple of days.

EDIT: it works, but have to go the checkout page and select paypal payment first. (edited)
Edit: it worked when I cahnged my region to Ireland(where I live) so that is the key 👌 (edited)
Had to make sure my account was set to my actual home location (UK) whilst VPNing to Turkey to redeem the codes.
Slightly faffy trying to sort Windscribe but got there in the end. Also bought 1 to many codes to stack as I'm still subscribed til next month so hopefully I can add that one end of July.
edit: got it working finally after using my phone's vpn. it just feels like microsoft are trying to make this type of thing harder to do. (edited)
